Hazel Wright auxilliary console

PostSun May 10, 2015 4:11 pm

The auxilliary console from the Hazel Wright organ is apparently for sale. Can you picture this as a Hauptwerk conversion?

Apparently for sale by Razzody Music LLC

They have a website at: http://www.razzody.com/

I'd love to have it in my living room! Of course I would have to wait until after the divorce was final....... :D

It is a Moeller console and the asking price is $40,000. Some of the specs:

Mounted on a moveable platform (can be removed from the platform)
Syndyne drawknobs and Harris tabs (forgot to ask about the keyboards, but presumably high quality as well)
90's vintage SSL digital control system
no MIDI (bummer!)
quite heavy as would be expected (exact weight unknown but estimated at 1500 lbs)
dimensions unknown at the time, but could be available by email

Edit: The console is a Möller, not Moeller.

P.S. I am also not the seller but was interested enough to ask the seller for additional information. The seller has been involved with the organ since its original installation.

Here is an interesting bit of information about the console from Chris Riley's 2006 "The Modern Organ Guide:"

"Following the demise of the M.P. Moller Pipe Organ Company, its console design arm still maintains a presence on the web. . . . Moller's final project was the design of the second five-manual console for the Hazel Wright organ at the Crystal Cathedral, located in the balcony."

I could not find any web presence for the Moller company.

If I remember correctly the console was actually produced by the Hagerstown Organ Company, which operates(d), at least until recently out of the Möller car factory (Dagmar? cars) on Pope Street. This was one of the employee offshoot companies following the Möller bankruptcy. The recent 2015 Diapason resource directory does not list them, but there is older information as follows:

Hagerstown Organ Company
P.O. Box 945
Hagerstown, MD 21740
301 797-4300

Craig Doyle is/was the principal of the operation.
