Newer-looking Allen on Craigslist in northern IL

I just ran across this, looks like a nice deal for somebody - comes with Allen Smart Recorder, so I assume it is already MIDI-capable, at $450.

That's a steal if it is indeed MIDI capable which, as you point out, it likely is.

A bit more searching seems to suggest that this is a Protégé AP–4, an MDS- era instrument, which means that it has all of the basic MIDI capability of the newest Allen organs. As such, it would be perfect as a Hauptwerk 2-manual console. Here are the specs and some pictures: http://www.jnelson.com/allen-protege-ap-4/. As you can see, the California dealer wants $7,900 for that one which includes a MIDI Division II. If I were in the vicinity, I would be snapping this up for the benefit of fellow organists looking for an affordable in-home instrument.
