Any news from Sonus Paradisi ?

PostThu Sep 24, 2015 12:57 pm

Hello friends

I'm not impatient, but I think : except a small italian organ, there is nothing new in the SP store since the Rotterdam-Transept organ ( nearly one year ago ! ) ...
I love SP sound quality and I save money for the next purchase...
During summer, I was waiting for september ... but nothing came !
Do I have to wait till christmas ?
Do you have any info about Jiri next virtual organ ?

Oh, thank you for your question! One of my friends told me about your curiosity. Indeed, when nothing seems to happen at Sonus Paradisi for many months, one can guess that something very huge is going to appear soon.

A new model is in final testing and it will not be very long until it finally appears. For me, this is somewhat a never-ending story, since having to deal with a multichannel instrument of 4 manuals and more than 80 speaking stops, there is always something which needs my attention before it can be released. But now, after more than 6 months of development and about 2 months of testing ... I really hope that I can release it next week.

Today, I have prepared the final ODFs and tomorrow it will go to the beta testers for a final check. If everything is OK, it will be released after the weekend. I am glad to say, that the most critical beta tester of mine said that this new release is the best sample set of Sonus Paradisi ever. I must admit that I was somewhat proud hearing that from him.

Interesting; does this organ use 6 channels like you've done in the past (rotterdam transept + freiberg), or is the organ too big for that :)

Yes, the organ is too big for the 6 channels, yet, it does use the 6-channel surround technique.

I was ready to release the sample set today, but unfortunately, there were some technical problems with the crescendo implementation. We had to rework the ODF a little bit. The release installation packages are uploaded on my server, but my beta testers must first download, install and test on their machines, to make sure that there is no nasty bug in them. After I get some positive reports from them, the sample set will be released. I am sorry for this delay.

Some uploads from the lucky testers are impressive !
(http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/17969)

While waiting, just for laugh, we could also play at "guess which organ is it NOT" !!
I think it is not this one :

So far, so good. Several testers did not find any errors which would stop the release of the sample set. Probably, I will try to release it tomorrow...

And it is indeed not this wonderful Compenius organ. I was trying very hard to get the permission to record it, but unfortunately it was not given. It is several years that I was repeatedly asking the authorities, but even the last attempt this year failed. Sorry.

Sorry again. I am ready, but my web support team needs to refresh the server with the sample set presentation, pricelist, banner etc. They promised to work on it even on Sunday, but well, it may take some time to them. I am really sorry. Every release of a sample set is a complex story with many details involved.

OK, my colleague has just published the Goerlitz Sonnenorgel sample set on the web. Warm congratulations to all those who have very well guessed the instrument according to the preliminary demos published by Erik Simmons on the Contrebombarde. I am always amazed by the Hauptwerk community - all the instruments are always guessed correctly. Incredible.

This instrument looks amazing, I can't wait for the demo to become available for download! (Hint, Hint, I can't find the download link yet ;-)

Question for Jiri: will there be an upgrade option available? My current computer can (barely) run the Small set, but I'd love the option to upgrade to Full when I can upgrade my hardware to match. Will this be offered?

Thanks,

Brad
