My minimalistic Hauptwerk organ

PostSat Aug 06, 2016 5:33 am

Using three Nektar MIDI-USB keyboards and a pedal from an old Monark organ I built it together on my near-antique desk:

Very sensible and neat idea, looks very spouse-friendly too, as I think a lot of people can more easily imagine a desk in the living room than an organ console. :) Did you have any issues with the desktop being too low? The pullout desk space on the sides would be really useful, as would the built-in music storage. Also much easier to move, I would think, than a typical re-purposed organ console. Thanks for the post!

Hi Fred,

That is the nicest home built table top I have seen yet. Congratulations on a fine job well done.

Fred - great idea!! I love the desk set-up.... leaves plenty of room for all the music accumulated through the years!!

Thanks for sharing,

Very interesting. I like the idea of the drawers on either side to hold music, etc. Its amazing how compact these home-made consoles can be.

Are the expression pedals attached to the pedal board? Just curious. I played an organ built with that setup and found the expression pedals to be just a little wobbly. Might be because of it being a DIY instrument.

No, I don't have a swell pedal, but can use the effect wheel on either one of my keyboards, That will do for the moment.

On my website I have a picture of the latest setup, with Swell pedal and Sample set of the organ in the Domkerk Utrecht:
