Divisional combinations

PostThu Jan 19, 2017 4:29 pm

Is it possible to place divisional combinations in more than 1 row (e.g. 2 rows à 10 pistons) or does this require to edit the ODF?

Thanks in advance!

Do you mean more than one row per manual?
If so, then - with all due respect - it's possible you might have misunderstood what organists in the English-speaking world mean by "divisional" pistons (i.e. a set of combinations, usually 1-6 or 1-8, in a sequence from pp to ff for each manual).
These are different from "General" combinations which can include stops from all divisions (like "Freie Kombinationen").

Just a little add-on.

Oh sorry, I was wrong! I was talking about the 20 possible general combinations, which I would like to place in 2 rows of 10 instead of one row of 20.

I guess I'm slightly confused, Are you referring to the physical placement of thumb pistons controlling General's? If so, the short answer is if there's room, why not? Altho from a player's prospective, it might be slightly difficult to push the desired piston esp when playing fast music.

I am referring to the controls

<CustomDisplayx_Generals_... >,

which can be found under <ObjectList ObjectType="_general">

Hello Chris,

There's no way to split the generals across multiple rows within the CODM, I'm afraid. Here's the description for the relevant _General.CustomDisplayN_Generals_... attributes:

The CustomDisplay1_Generals_... attributes allow you to show up to 20 general combination pistons on one of your own custom display pages. The pistons are displayed in a row (need not be horizontal) between the X, Y position of the first and the X, Y position of the last.
Best regards, Martin.

Martin,

Thank you very much for the quick response! I read this section and hoped, that if I choose different values for Y HW would split the the controls into 2 or more horizontal lines. However, HW created an oblique line of controls.

No problem, this issue can be easily solved in the ODF. However, it requires one additional step in the workflow.

Chris,
I would like to know how to split generals using ODF additions to the CODM?
I suppose I could figure it out but apparently you have already been there, done that.
Thanks.

resurrecting an antique thread here, but I have run into this also. The organ I'm virtualizing has 5 generals on the swell and 5 on the great, and I'd love to make the virtual console actually look and work like the real one, without moving things around.

If it has 5 on the Swell and 5 on the Great, then they’re almost certainly Divisionals, not Generals.
