pedal board problem

PostMon Jun 05, 2017 1:44 pm

hi

I've suddenly developed a problem with a single note on my Classic Midiworks pedal board - a single note does not sound (I think the note is d2 - it's the d above middle c). This occurs across organs and after restarting everything.

Before I begin tearing things apart, does this sound like a contact issue on the pedal board or perhaps a problem with the pedal board encoder ... or something else?

Thanks,
Bill

Sounds like a poor contact on that particular note.
I have had a similar problem - one of the contact magnets needed to be very slightly re-aligned.

Sounds like a reed switch may be out of alignment. You can unscrew the back cover and gain access to the PC boards with the reed switches. They are mounted over slots with a single screw. You can loosen the screw and then move the PC board until the reed switch is in the proper position again. It's pretty easy. In the unlikely event that the reed switch has been broken Classic sells replacements.

Hope this helps!

I had the tiny wire that goes into a reed switch actually seem to break on its on. (???) I ordered a replacement reed along with one extra. They are so tiny and so delicate that I actually broke both of them and had to reorder. All is well, now, but dang those pedal boards are heavy!

Those pedal boards are very heavy!

Loosening the screw and moving the small circuit board did not help.

But then I noticed Classic Midi had provided two additional reed switches, set apart from the installed ones.

I replaced the reed switch for the defective note and the problem was resolved.

Thanks again!
