Compatable Sample Sets

PostThu Mar 22, 2018 12:42 pm

Is there a listing of sample sets compatible with, and released with CODM permission?
Thanks,
Doug

Hello Doug,

As far as I know, only sample sets from OrganArt Media disallow use with the CODM (and all OrganArt Media disallow it).

I believe that all sample sets from other makers do allow use with the CODM, and all that I'm aware of use names for their WAV files that should be compatible (at least for their main pipe samples), but I know of no definitive list. If relevant, and if in doubt, it's probably best to check with any candidate sample set's maker before purchasing.
Best regards, Martin.

Is the St. Ann set compatible? I noticed the sample files aren't wav files(?)

Hello Doug,

Yes. All Milan Digital Audio sample sets, including St. Anne's are compatible. The St. Anne's samples are encrypted (.hbw), but encrypted samples are fully and equally usable in the CODM (unless the sample set producer has specifically disallowed use with the CODM, which, to my knowledge as above, only OrganArt Media does).

In fact, all of the example CODM organ definitions that are installed with Hauptwerk use the St. Anne's samples.
Best regards, Martin.

Must the pipe folder e.g. (PD Principal 16) contain the primary wav files? I have one free set where the labeled rank folder contains no wav files, just sub folders which isn't being recognized as existing. I hope I'm clear here.
Thanks,
Doug

You just need to specify the correct folder, i.e. wherever the files .wav/.hbw files are. They need to have the correct filename format (036-C.wav/.hbw, 037-C#.wav/.hbw, etc.).

Many sample set rank folders when opened display wav files plus additional folders.
I've encountered a set where the stop/division name folder opens to display only sub folders, in this case labeled A0 R0 R1 R2

Am I correct in assuming that A0 contains the primary wav files followed by three release sample folders?

Thanks,
Doug

Hello Doug,

I can't know what folder names any given sample set/producer might have chosen to use (check with the maker of the relevant sample set if in doubt), but my guess from the names you mention is that the A0 folder would presumably have the primary (and only) attack samples, with the R1, ..., RN folders being the release samples (probably with R0 being the primary release). Hence you would need to specify those folders for the corresponding CODM Rank attributes.
Best regards, Martin.

Thanks Martin,
I'm going to proceed on that assumption.

Error message mystery.
I'm getting the following error message and can't figure why? St Annes is present and loaded.

Rank"STAP_EchoBass16' is invalid - StAnnesMoseley-Pedal-EchoBass16' is specified as a sample folder within installation package ID 000002, but that folder doesn't exist. To load a custom organ, all referenced ranks of samples must be installed and present.

Thanks,
Doug
