Teensy LCD Display

PostTue Mar 27, 2018 5:27 pm

I did some modifications to an example sketch for the Teensy 3.6 and came up with a program that drives a serial enabled LCD such as the LCD-09067 from Sparkfun. The modified sketch, HauptwerkLCD.ico, is available on my website http://www.kinkennon.com under the Projects tab. The file downloads as text to your browser where one can select all the text and save it as HauptwerkLCD.ico.

The device also displays MIDI messages like Note-On, Note-Off, etc. so it's useful for some troubleshooting.
Connection is via USB_MIDI. It's as easy as 3 wires and loading a sketch.

I've modified the download to a zip file so that the Teensy source file gets embedded in a folder by the same name. That's the way the Arduino program likes to see the files.

I've also added a four LCD version. Just be sure to verify that the Teensy 3.3 regulator is not overloaded if using all four. I'll have a chance to test with three LCDs and measure the current draw next week.

There's a PCB for this project a OSH Park.
Link for the printed circuit board:
www.oshpark.com/shared_projects/oOkecboB

Mouser Parts:
Qty. 4 Header 538-22-23-2041
Qty. 4 Housing 538-22-01-3047
Pins 538-08-50-0114
Qty. 1 Regulator 511-LF33CF
Qty. 1 10ufd 16v Capacitor
Qty. 1 0.1ufd Capacitor

Also need headers and pins for your Teensy 3.5/3.6.

Project sketch is on the Projects Page at www.kinkennon.com. The unit drives up to 4 LCD displays for Hauptwerk or can be used as a generic breakout for 4 serial ports. A compatible LCD is Sparkfun's LCD-09067.
