She began organ study with Thomas Harmon in 1999 and completed Master's and Doctoral degrees in organ performance at UCLA working with Christoph Bull. In addition, she holds Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in applied linguistics from UCLA. Staff paper will be provided for last minute theme writing/submission. The themes can be a favorite hymn, movie soundtrack theme, nursery rhyme song, folk song, or even an originally composed melody! BIOGRAPHY
Image may contain: one or more people and indoor
Adam Ferrara began his music career with tap dancing and breaking wooden boards in Tae Kwan Do at the ripe age of 5. Once the instructors wanted him to move onto breaking concrete boards, his parents decided it was time to give him piano lessons to hold him over until they had found a new sport for him to do. Piano ended up being that new sport, with trumpet lessons added a year later. His first public performance followed shortly after, during a Christmas Eve church service–this time on piano, rather than as a shepherd in the previous years’ Christmas pageant.

As if the trumpet weren’t loud enough of an instrument already, Mr. Ferrara began his organ studies at the very end of his high school career, took a brief pause to perform Rhapsody in Blue for the Alma Symphony Orchestra in 2012, and then resumed them halfway through college. Upon completion of his BM in Piano Performance at Alma College, Mr. Ferrara studied with Dr. Michael Burkhardt at Eastern Michigan University, where he earned his MM in Organ Performance in May 2017.

At the end of 2017, Mr. Ferrara completed the construction of his 5-manual virtual pipe organ, using his own hardware and software.

When a slice of free time occurs, Mr. Ferrara enjoys photography, ice cream, mountain biking, and eating pie in Julian with his fiancé, Emily. His photographic work has been on display in art galleries in the Mid-Michigan area.

PostMon Jul 16, 2018 12:03 pm

On July 19, American Guild of Organist Pipe Organ Encounters introduces 20 promising organ students to Hauptwerk virtual organs at my residence. To my knowledge, this is the first AGO POE sponsored Hauptwerk event!

I will orient the students to "Stan's Music Parlor" residence organs, including the Johannus SW-30, the BachMen OrganCrafters pipe organ, and the Hauptwerk organ system. I will demonstrate their unique individual qualities and how they may be played together. https://www.facebook.com/StansMusicParlor90019/

Namhee Han will demonstrate organ history with examples using historic Hauptwerk organs.

Charles Raasch will describe digital organ design, culminating with a demonstration of his CLR Resources Great Organs of FCCLA Hauptwerk sample set. https://www.clrresources.com/fccla-the-great-organs/

In December 2017 the same chorus premiered his composition "Hodie Christus Natus Est" for choir and 8 trombones as part of the USC Winter Gala Concert at USC's Bovard Auditorium, and performed the piece again for the USC Winter Gala Concert of 2018.
