Apple 32 GB RAM for 4 manual Salisbury, Bovenkerk?

PostSun Jun 17, 2018 10:42 am

I have an iMac 16 GB and run Metz and Volume 1 of Salisbury and Volume 1 of Bovenkerk.. (2 manual Ahlborn-Galanti organ);; I'm thinking of getting a four manual Hauptwerk-only organ; will the Apple 16GB be enough to still sound great on earphones?

The MDA website states you can run Volume 3 at 20 bits with all release samples in 12.5 GB of ram, which I think should sound amazing on 16 GB. Depending on your system 24 bits or uncompressed might not be doable. On headphones you might not be able to hear the difference though. I run mine at 16 bits with only the first release though, and I still think it sounds amazing. Depends on how discerning you are, I guess. If money is no object then the more RAM the better. 32 GB would let you run a big organ in surround if you ever want to upgrade your sound system.

Hallo

I run Bovenkerk Vol 3 on iMac with 16GB. Sounds pretty good.

Enjoy.
