Redlands Casavant Demo | Updated and improved!

PostThu May 09, 2019 2:18 pm

We are pleased to announce the release of the updated and improved version of the Redlands Casavant Demo sample set for Hauptwerk.

We have done revisions on the samples, including:

Checking all loops, fixing any loop errors
Reapplying noise reduction using new techniques, resulting in superior sample audio quality and reduced download and sample set size
Evaluating all attacks and releases, and fixing errors that were found
We think you will find that the revised samples will be a pleasing experience, you are invited to download the Demo set and hear the difference (link is on the post page: http://www.evensongmusic.net/?p=2815 )

Hello,

I’ve downloaded several times this demo, but every time MD5 tells me that both files are corrupted.

Just downloaded it myself, and it shows up fine.... did you try installing?

(edit - I also did a quick trial install and load, and it was fine)

I've just check the downloads for the demo and the md5 checksums match those in the checksum.md5 file .The case of the letters is ignored in md5 checksums (my utility uses lower case by default, they are in upper case in the checksum.md5 file).

Hello Iain,

I've the following sums in MD5:
ECCE1DC3A382FF616681A6F2C4225B60
A71329E6A07BAEF291057A004E5B9350
Does it mean I only could have a wrong result with my version of MD5 (for MacOS)? In this case should I perhaps try loading those files in spite of the error message?

Hi
Comparing the values you have given above the md5 checks seem to match those on their website.

ECCE1DC3A382FF616681A6F2C4225B60 *URiversideCasavantDEMO.part1.rar
ECCE1DC3A382FF616681A6F2C4225B60 YOURS

A71329E6A07BAEF291057A004E5B9350 *URiversideCasavantDEMO.part2.rar
A71329E6A07BAEF291057A004E5B9350 YOURS

The files have appeared to transferred without error.

Thanks Iain, for this information. Indeed, I’ve installed this demo without any problem. That’s very strange! It’s the first time MD5 gives me a message saying that the files are corrupted when they’re not.

Should I uninstall and delete the previous demo prior to installing the updated one?

I always do - that ensures the organ will be re-cached, and that you will hear the new version.

Thanks!

Have all of these improvements been made to the whole sample set yet, or just to the demo?

[chuckle}

Good detective thinking on your part...

Indeed, the entire sample set has been so improved, we are doing another small addition (simple screen), then the files must be uploaded, a download test, and test install made prior to re-release.

We are close, I'll announce when it is ready, maybe as soon as next week.

Cheers,

I can speak to the great improvements of this set. I have been working with it for a few days now at Greenwood UMC on our large, 56 channel system, and this is looking more and more like the go-to set for us. Thank you, Jonathan, for all the improvements!

You are very welcome, Drew... I’m pleased you are enjoying it.

We are slowly going through the other sets now to do a similar process (although they are not as in need of it as Redlands was - there were some unique challenges there).

When there are thousands of files, there are also many places to have problems - even with rigorous quality control it is possible to have issues. The only way to be sure that doesn’t happen is to listen to every sample, every loop, every release and verify their integrity.... it’s not something a machine can do, it must be done by a knowledgeable human being. Even then, there is the possibility that one might miss something!

The good news is, the rigorous quality control will be a part of all of our new sets - and there are several in the que.
