Redlands Casavant | Updated and improved!

PostFri May 17, 2019 8:22 pm

We are pleased to announce the release of the updated and improved version of the Redlands Casavant sample set for Hauptwerk. This update is free for all existing licensed users of the set, and for the next two weeks will be offered at a 15% discount ($335 instead of $395) for new customers.

Using some excellent source material, and based on additional experience we have gained, we have revised the samples for the Redlands sample set. The resulting sample set is vastly improved, giving you an even more compelling 1928 American Classic organ experience. Revisions include:

- Checking all loops, fixing any loop errors
- Reapplying noise reduction using new techniques, resulting in superior sample audio quality and reduced download and sample set size
- Evaluating all attacks and releases, and fixing errors that were found
- Adding a Simple Screen for those who find the photorealistic interface hard to see (coming shortly)

We think you will find that the revised samples will be a pleasing experience for you for years to come. The Demo set has also had the revised samples incorporated, you are invited to download it and hear the difference!

The Redlands Casavant is the first sample set we have reprocessed with these new techniques. We will be working on the rest of the CLR sample sets to provide similar improvements.

Go here http://www.evensongmusic.net/?page_id=2521 to read more about the set, hear demos and order.

Best to all,

Assume the sample recordings are done with the improved version? Appears there more pistons on the real console then are available on the screen shots.

Very impressive, clean sound. Nice ambiance.

Actually, those are the old version... if you can believe it, it sounds even better now.
There are more positions on the “real” console.

It’s a fun set to play... I hope to have more updated demos out soon.

They all are, yes. I chose to start with Redlands, as it was the most recently released.... and, probably the most complex of the sets we still sell. I’m still deciding on what comes next, as we are on the cusp of doing some new sets, too. Fortunately, the new sets will have the error-checking and quality control done up front, so we don’t have remedial work to do later. But, yes - eventually they will all get similar treatment. Likely next candidate is the Arboretum Æolian-Skinner, as it has sold very well, but has a few things we should update and change.

Already had Redlands; was a beta tester for Charlie Raasch

Redlands 3.0 will not install (ID conflicts). All earlier versions uninstalled first per Jonathan's instructions, both data and organs. Have the diagnostic file but need to know where to send it. Any help appreciated.

Dave and I have been in contact, and I hope the problem is resolved.... the install was tested by several users, most all of whom had a previous version. One other person had a similar ID conflict, and it turned out that somehow there was still a piece of the old install left. The old install, of course had the CLR ID codes, so if the wrong pieces are still there there’s also the possibility of a conflict.

Not only were the installs tested, but also I went back today and double-checked that the relevant IDs matched.

It’s always best to contact via the contact form on our website, rather than post to the forum.

With Jonathan's help Redlands 3.0 is up and running. Many issues resolved from earlier versions. Highly recommended!

Thanks, Dave. So glad we got it sorted. And, I’m pleased with the result, too. It’s really a fun organ to use (if you like a big romantic instrument, which I do!)

Haha.

Yes, indeed. Unfortunately I only have so many hours in the day, and it was quite the ride getting this set revised - I started on February 26, and (as you can see) only just finished... almost 3 months of work (and during Lent/Holy Week/Confirmation as a person who is a FT church musician!).

That said, I have a very wonderful performer who is going to do a demo or two shortly, and now that I’m not listening to note after note and fixing problems, I’ll do some myself.

Wanted to do a checkout in line with a possible purchase before 5/31. And I'm very familiar with a heavy work schedule and applaud your efforts. Been there, done it still more work in progress than most likely I can complete.

And thanks, also. :)

Ok, ok...

Excuse the sketchy sight-reading, but here's one of my favorite Langlais pieces:
