Will Hauptwerk work with the new MacOS 10.15? And is there a new update in 64 Bit?

Don't worry! Hauptwerk is already 64 bit.

You can easily confirm this yourself:

1. Hold down the OPTION / ALT key on your keyboard, then pull down the  Apple menu.
2. Choose “System Information” from the top of the Apple menu list.
3. In the System Information app, scroll down the left-side menu and look under “Software” and choose “Applications”.
4. Look for the “64-bit (Intel)” option in the column header, and click on that to sort the column by 64-bit.
5. Every app that says “No” is 32-bit, every app that says “Yes” is 64-bit.

Best,
Chris

What do you mean with "USB Keydriver"?

The latest version of Hauptwerk (v4.2.1) has been released almost 4 years ago. You are right, a very old 32-bit version of unrar is installed. You can replace it yourself with the latest version of unrar (v5.71), which is 64-bit (https://www.rarlab.com/rar/rarosx-5.7.1.tar.gz).

The latest version of the HASP driver (v7.92, released 2019-04-30) is still 32-bit. But this protection system has been depreciated anyhow (see http://forum.hauptwerk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17359&p=130078#p130078). I am pretty sure that the new security system will support 64-bit.

The combination of macOS 10.15 Catalina and Hauptwerk v4.2.1 may be a problem, because of the 32-bit HASP driver. However, I expect that the Sentinel HASP drivers for Mac will be also updated before the official release of macOS 10.15 Catalina.

I can confirm that Hauptwerk is working with Catalina.

As noted above, you need to update to the latest version of the HASP driver from SafeNet.

There is one other issue: If you have your main Hauptwerk folder (where all your instruments and user settings are found) installed at the root of your hard drive, you will find it has been moved once Catalina is installed. This is due to Catalina's new file volume security model. The root file system is now read-only. All read-write files and folders are stored on a separate volume. Catalina does background magic to merge these to together into a single volume from the user's perspective.

BUT that means you CANNOT have anything in the root of your hard drive.

After upgrading, my /Hauptwerk folder was moved to /Users/Shared/RelocatedItems/Security/Hauptwerk. I moved it to /Users/Shared/Hauptwerk. I then edited /Applications/Hauptwerk Virtual Pipe Organ/InternalResources/FileLocations.FileLocations_Hauptwerk_xml and updated a handful of paths to point to the new location.

After that, Hauptwerk, and the VST Bridge, functioned normally, and I was able to open and play several Logic Pro X projects without issue.
