FREE pedalboard -- Now with FREE MIDI circuit board

PostFri Jul 12, 2019 12:40 pm

Well, the responses to my post offerring a 30-note radiating-and-concave pedalboard free of charge haven't been numerous.
chorn wrote:I have a pedalboard (radiating and concave, reclaimed from a pipe organ) that I bought years ago, intending to use it with Hauptwerk, but I haven't done anything with it (apart from some testing when I first got it).

So ... does anyone want this pedalboard?
.

Actually, the responses can be counted on the fingers of one foot.

So, three possibilities:
-- (a) everyone who wants a 30-note pedalboard already has one;
-- (b) everyone who wants but doesn't have one is too far from West London; or
-- (c) free isn't cheap enough, for those nearby who do want to get a 30-note pedalboard.

And the only one of those that I can do anything aboutis '(c)'. So, here goes: ...

I also have a circuit board from MIDI Gadgets Boutique that will generate MIDI note-data from my pedalboard. You have to connect an existing wire from each pedal to the circuit board, and add a power supply -- and, hey presto, you have a 30-note MIDI pedalboard.

Well, while I say 'hey presto', it might be only 'hey allegretto', or even 'hey lento', depending on how good you are with wires and solder.

Anyway, seeing that it's you, I'll throw in the circuit board:

Seems strange that you can't give it away. Perhaps everyone here already has one.
Why don't you put it on eBay?

Hello¡
Many people around the world -me included- would be interested in your kind offer, but West London is far reaching of our grasp, reach and budget¡
What about spreading the word in your organ and musical community?

Thanks, anyway,
Luis (Manizales, Colombia, South America)

OTOH: I do not believe not having the pedal 32 notes be a problem. Roughly speaking, 99.9 percent of organ literature does not need those extra two notes, which could be useful only for another HW function (sequencer, for instance).

You might like to contact the UK-based Electronic Organ Constructors Society:

http://www.eocs.org.uk/

The “JOIN” page gives contact details for our Chairman and Membership Secretary Keith Tomkinson, and has a form you could use to email him (scroll down to the bottom of the page):

http://www.eocs.org.uk/join.html

The Society publishes a quarterly magazine, and quite likely a mention there would find someone glad of your pedalboard. As the next issue will not be out for a couple of months, I suggest you contact Keith anyway, as he may be able to help you sooner.

Now you certainly drive a hard bargain, all those of you who've read my posts and had the courage to employ the risky tactic of steadfastly not replying, even though you really, really want this pedalboard. I'm sure you've earnt the admiratioin of all the forum members.

But do be aware:

... -- many of your neighbours are showing interest in pedalboards, so here's an opportunity to have mine
...... and thereby demonstrate your conformity with them;

... -- members of the opposite sex admire people who own pedalboards;

... -- this extraordinary special offer can only be kept open for a few more days; and

... -- no added sugar.

Hello!

Maybe you will wonder where I have been all this time as the pedalboard sounds like something I need ...

I am about to design/build a 2 manual console with full pedalboard to use in some workshops/demos in schools. Perhaps you could send me a PM with some details of where you are? I am near Farnborough, Hampshire.

Thanks,
Geoff

Well, two people showed some interest, one more than the other and now ....

For now, at least, I will appreciate the extra space in my house.

If I do ever change my mind and decide that it actually would be worth devoting a lot of time to getting back into playing the organ (at the expense of using the time for other musical activities), I will get myself a Hauptwerk organ

But meanwhile, my rather nice piano is plenty.
