What do security updates for W7 have to do with HW 5?

There's an update I-lok manager needs to run.
Also, Martin's usual first question is "have all os updates been applied......."

+ it's the last chance to do this....

I do not want to discourage anyone from upgrading to Win10.
The EOL of Windows 7 might be a good occasion for this.

But... this is just like the "best before..."-dates. Windows 7 does not become a horrendous insecure mess just because it is EOL.

Kind Regards,
Rico

(Some evil minded people might say that Win 7 can't become a horrendous insecure mess because it is already a horrendous insecure mess  )

I still run XP on an old computer I use for certain necessary tasks. It is not connected to the internet. Runs fine. IMHO, that was the last really good Windows OS.

I have to maintain 3 laptops for work stuff.
XP for old but good audio processors.
7 for what won't run reliably under 10.
10 for everything else.

It can be annoying.

(FWIW, I did the 10 upgrade on the HW workstation, but reversed it fairly quickly, as my then graphics card wasn't supported. The current ones are). Because of the fine print, I can still go the Win10 route, if I choose.
I'm still on the fence about the 10 upgrade, but definitely doing all the 7's, while I can.
I have to replace 4 HDD's to make HWV fit in the workstation, so it's taking time.....

M/S supervisor related that officially support for Win 7 will not be available after 1/14/20 (in other words no new updates). However the existing (old) updates will be available indefinitely (as of now).

iLok support does not know of a requirement for a specific W7 update needed for their product.

I built 3 HW PCs at the end of last week, with Windows 7 Pro and all the then available updates installed.
iLok is working fine on all of them. I'll do a last-minute check tomorrow. morning. :D

Oh, yes they do!

See my post viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17762&p=133976&hilit=+pack#p133976

Specifically, you must have either update KB3125574 or update KB3033929.
If not, you will need to download the KB3125574 update and install it.

To apply this update, you must install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 (KB976932) and also the update KB3020369.
