Brackets for holding control devices (Launchpad, computer ke

PostTue Mar 17, 2020 10:16 am

I have various bits and pieces for managing the controls on my HW system, but it isn't always very easy reaching them while sitting at the console. I see that you can buy various hinged and gooseneck brackets which have a clamp at one end to fix to a table and at the other end they can hold an iPad or other devices in a range of positions.

I thought one of these might be suitable for holding a Launchpad, a computer keyboard or something similar, but a lot of them seem a bit wobbly. That is all very well if you are trying to read a recipe on an iPad while cooking, but no good if you are trying to type something or press a series of buttons.

Has anybody found maybe a heavy-duty version of one fo these which is secure and stable enough to use as an organ control?

Hardware from Atdec works well for me to support monitor and launchpads without wobble. I don't know though if it's available outside Australia.

You might check https://www.ergomounts.co.uk/products/desk/tablet. I use their mounts for my touch screens and they are quite robust. Iain

I just use Velcro. One piece sticks to the organ surface, the matching piece sticks to the Launchpad and nanoKontrol2 that I use. I find them firm enough and at a later date the Velcro pieces can be removed reasonably easy.
Velcro purchased in Australia, I have no idea how it differs if at all in any other country.

I removed the drawknobs from my Rodgers console. There were too few for the organs I use and it no longer has any of the Rodgers organ circuits anyway. (I did keep the power supply as it operates the relays for the speaker cabinets) I opened the Launchpad cases and put machine screws out the back. I picked places where I could use the existing drawknob holes and secure a launchpad on both sides. So the Launchpads are solidly mounted and in the usual location for stops.

When I get around to it, regular threaded pipe fitting from Home Depot will be very strong and sturdy! Various lengths of straight pipe, different angle pieces, and floor flanges that can be screwed directly to the table. Just thread them together and tighten.

My HW keydesk table has a 22" touch screen on one side and a Launchpad on the other. I attached both to a 1/2" oak board cut to the respective size using heavy duty velcro for the LP and a combination of screws and velcro for the monitor. Matching VESA mounts then fasten to the oak boards. The LP is rock solid no matter which button is pressed. The monitor has a much reduced wobble effect which is only noticeable when tapping on the out edge of the screen.

I built simple but sturdy multi-purpose brackets with oak boards.
Pictures here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing
They are cut on angle with just enough back tilt.
They are glued together with a plate joiner.
They are screwed to the deck from underneath.

I have had an excellent device that is here Ipad Stand - Tablet Stand - Adjustable Tablet Holder for Home or Office - Ipad Holder fits 7-11 inch Samsung iPhone Amazon Kindle iPad Air Mini Tablets and Phones - with Camera Adapter. It is robust does not move around and thanks to the versatile gimbel swivels, tilts and turns in addition to articulating up and down - to and fro.

I have mine with a LaunchPad Mini and it just fits that size. I believe that you can get larger ones if necessary
