Simple Soundcard

PostMon Sep 21, 2020 2:10 pm

Hello,

my old desktop PC recently died and I am in the process of replacing it. I want to use a MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and the reviews state that this mainboard does not have the best audio hardware. So I would like to add a soundcard to the PC, but I do not need a lot of channels as I only have a simple setup with 2 speakers and do not plan on upgrading in the foreseeable future.

So, before I just randomly to grab one, does anyone have a recommendation? Two analogue channels needed, should work with Hauptwerk (ASIO), everything else is optional. (Well, should be available in Germany)

Kind Regards,
Rico

I have not tried it myself, but in objective reviews, Topping does very well:

The E30 is available for EUR 112.25: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/4000844752182.html
And the D10 even for EUR 69: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/4000910630091.html

I would also recommend an external audio interface. I use a Steinberg UR-22, which was inexpensive, and has low latency compatible with Hauptwerk, and good audio quality. Other companies, such as Focusrite, RME, and MOTU sell similar ones.

Have a look at the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen (about 145Euro from Thomann)
Details at https://focusrite.com/en/usb-audio-interface/scarlett/scarlett-2i2
