Forum Login

Hello,
Since yesterday, the ‘Log me on automatically each visit’ function no longer works. Each time I have to enter my user name and my password (fortunately memorized in my browser). I’m using Firefox and haven’t changed anything in my preferences recently. Does anyone have an explanation for this phenomenon?

That's been happening to me on and off for weeks using Chrome. It's not just you. And the frequent user limit of 25 exceeded errors...

FWIW, I've had no issues with the automatic/perpetual login, So it night be some sort of local issue of some kind,

I've tested it also. No problems with it at all.

Change the address in your bookmarks from http://forum.hauptwerk.com/... to https:// and the chance is good that it works again.

I have been asking for weeks if not months now to change the address in the automatically generated emails to https, but so far to no avail.

Best,
Chris

Hello Chris,
I just tried it, but I receive a warning message saying this a high risk…

No, opening a website starting with http:// is high-risk, as data transfer is not encrypted. https:// websites use encryption for data transfer.

A good overview can be found here: https://seopressor.com/blog/http-vs-https/

Just a few seconds ago I got my first "Topic reply notification" set to https://

Thank you Hauptwerk team!

Actually, I think that's something that I might be able to do myself, via the forum software's administrator control panel. I've tried changing a setting there now, which was still set to use http:// as a default protocol. Does that result in https:// prefixed URLs in generated emails for you?

Hello Martin,

Our messages obviously overlapped. The issue is already solved :D

Thanks for looking into it!

For me the problem remains the same, event with ‘https’. I just don’t receive anymore the previous warning.

Hello Luc,

I don't know for certain, but I would guess that the forum's 'Log me on automatically' option uses a cookie, so if your Firefox privacy settings are set to block such cookies, or to delete them when the browser is closed, then 'Log me on automatically' might possibly not work.
Best regards, Martin.

I have had the same problem for several weeks, but discovered accidentally that if I login to https://forum.hauptwerk.com directly rather than coming in through the home page first I am still logged in to the Forum.

Yes using https://forum.hauptwerk.com will keep you logged in once you ticked "Log me on automatically".
