Thank you for posting. Are the demos recorded direct from Hauptwerk's built-in recorder? Multiple channel or stereo configuration?

Thanks,

Lawrence

Lawrence,
All my demo's are recorded with same conditions:
- Hauptwerk 3 Advanced.
- Recorded via Hauptwerk recording function, there are no additional effects added (e.g. extra reverb).
- Pure Stereo
- Live played in Hauptwerk (there is no midi file used).
- Each organ in original temperament.
- Windmodel on
- all sounds (keys, windmotor) on
- Without swell pedal, I don't have that available for midi.
- Converted to mp3 with 192 kbit/s, the sound quality direct from Hauptwerk is better.
- The same amateur organ player, so the play quality is not optimal. But very realistic because most of us are amateurs... ;-)

Gert

Thanks. That's very useful information. Although I don't always agree with your registration choices, I've certainly been enjoying your performances! (Put two organists in the same room, and you'll have at least three registrations!)

Lawrence

PS - I'm trying to resist ordering this organ right now, and your demos are NOT helping me!

Thanks Lawrence,
I will always learn, when you have suggestions for registrations let me know (here or via info@PCorgan.com ).

Also I will change the registrations of some pieces (e.g. Elevation and Magnificat).
Further, I used registrations a bit equal to the registrations of the other sample sets, so it's possible to compare.
Yesterday I noticed that I forgot to use the very nice Tertiaan (in combination with Pr 8 Oct 4 Quint 3) in a 'solo' registration.

I work on a well-considered review, but I can already say that it's not a bad bargain. It's a feast to play on this warm organ.

Gert

Hi,
My opinion about this set is now on my site:
www.PCorgan.com/SampleSets9EN.html

Suggestion for Brett: I hope that Volume II will have a different ODF
(with own unique id) and that it's not a replacement of the ODF of Volume
I. This is handy for users which have not a lot of memory available so
they can than load Volume I and Volume II with different configurations.

Further I added Google map views for each sample set, nice to look,
especially the street view of the "Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church" (skinner
organ): www.PCorgan.com/SampleSets14EN.html go into the picture and drag with your mouse.

I noticed that the pages were too slow, because of that now only one
Sample Set per page is shown.

PS: Probably I must change my (too) strong statement about 'dry' sample sets because I listened to the demo's of the new Silbermann of Jiri.

Best regards,
Gert

Hello!

Just a reminder that today and tomorrow are the last two days for ordering the Hinsz with the introductory discount and also to become eligible to upgrade to volume 2 with a 10% discount.

>Suggestion for Brett: I hope that Volume II will have a different ODF

Hello Gert,

Yes, each volume will continue with the previous volume being installed. It will allow you to have 3 individual versions installed at once and choose which you may want to play. So even if you upgrade to all 3 volumes, you can always go back and play volume 1 or 2 without uninstalling the subsequent volumes.

Thanks for your web pages and demos, I particularly enjoy the Google images and the 360 view of Mt. Carmel!

Thanks Brett,
I recorded this evening some new demo's (psalm 130) to show some more sound colors. Because it was a bit fastly recorded I'm not fully satisfied about the play quality. I shall rerecord the pieces later.

My Hinsz arrived this morning - thanks for the speedy service Brett!

Just had a quick play over lunch, and it sounds fantastic. I hope MDA/Crumhorn Labs are able to fight to get the wind model available for US users as it really does a difference with this set.

Brett, if possible, a 1024x768 screen layout would be great!

Thanks again and looking forward to getting to know this great organ,
Chris.

Hello Chris,

Glad you are enjoying the new set! We'll keep in mind a smaller screen size for a future update.

Thanks!

Hello Chris,

Do you have experiences with the windmodel and this particular set?
What settings do you use?
Thanks in advance for your reply,

The wind model is quite prominent in this one. If you listen to some of the recordings or the youtube videos like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWN0OPjF_l4 where Wim Magre hammers the organ, you can get a feel for it in real life. For me 100% on the sample set was a bit much for big fast orchestral stuff. I have it set around 60% where it is still noticeable, but not overly distracting as you play. It really does add life to the organ. It is a shame that it is not (yet???) available in the US.

It is very interesting to test whether the wind model is adequate enough when the wind engine has to be turned off in modern avant garde pieces such as for exampe Pneoo of Daan Manneke. Especially with this sample set because of the acoustics.

I think I might crank it down a bit too actually, the poor blower seems somewhat under-powered for this beast which can lead to some very odd sounding pitch-bending when under load.

Hi Brett - any news on when we can expect the next volume of this fantastic set? I love the rich sound I'm already getting with just the currently available stops so can't wait to see what the rest are going to sound like.

Thanks,
Chris.
