It will take some time to download and watch these "gems". Thanks for making these possible for us. I view them for 2 reason, first, of course, the enjoyment factor and then as an educational benefit. Appreciate!!

Dear friends of Hauptwerk

I would like to invite yout to the 8th home concert will be on March 06, 2010. The organist of that evening will be Mr. Sebastian Küchler-Blessing from Zimmern o.R. / Germany.

The programme will be as follows:

J. S. Bach: Präludium und Fuge h-moll

D. Buxtehude: Mit Fried’ und Freud’ ich fahr’ dahin

J. Brahms: Herzlich tut mich verlangen

M. Reger: Freu dich sehr o meine Seele

F. Liszt: Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen

J. Brahms: Es ist ein Ros entsprungen

M. Reger: Halleluja, Gott zu loben

Announcement will be possible at: joerg[dot]glebe[at]thyssenkrupp[dot]com

Free attendance as usual.

As I expect that the space of room will exceed the capacity, I have to pass the places in strict rotation (first come, first served).

The 9th home concert will be on June 26, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. by Prof. Roland Maria Stangier from Hildesheim.

Greetings from Bochum

Thanks for that news, Joerg. I have been so impressed with your organ console and the quality of the playing of your many visitors since I first saw the pictures of the installation of your system.

However, as you have booked Prof. R Strangier so far into the future (presumably he is a very busy performer) I am hoping that by then, teleportation (a la Star Trek) will have been perfected and I shall be able to visit the concert just at the press of a button!

Regards & best wishes,

Ken.

Could that date have been 2010 vs 2019. I've done that same thing often - pressing 9 in place of 0.

Sorry, Ed - I obviously failed miserably in my attempt at humour!

I have a short question for Jeorg, that being how do you get access to the speakers which are behind the front pipes?

Listening to the Widor Toccata... have the release samples been truncated? The Metz sounds different than what I'm used to hearing. Thanks for posting this.

I believe this is actually the Caen organ and not the Metz. If you look at the description of the other movements the majority of them state the Caen is being used. Perhaps just an oversight when writing the description and stating Metz? Since this was a live performance I would think that he wouldn't have swtched organs "mid-symphonie".

Yes that's right. Is was a mistake.
In all clips the Caen set was used.

The Widor Toccata performance is truly impressive! 8)

I was a bit surprised though, as I thought a wider selection of manuals was involved - both hands were always playing on the same manual at a time. Another point is that the organist preferred to change the registration with toe pistons instead of using the 4th manual that remained completely unused. It is a classical approach of this piece? Sorry if my point is silly - I am far from being a good performer and far from having a good knowledge on organ playing techniques!

The Caen sample set which was used for the Widor does not have a fourth manual. That explains why you wouldn't see it being used here.
In general Widor tells you what manuals to use with what stops and how they should be coupled. In the case of the Toccata, he only tells you the dynamics he wants. It starts marked fff which would imply the Grande Orgue which on this organ would be the lowest manual with the next two coupled down to it. Only the Recit (third up) is enclosed so it can be used open for the fff and closed for lesser dynamics without changing any stops. The piece is not intended to be played with hands separated.
French organs added reeds and coupling to a registration by using foot levers so it's quite appropriate for the player here to do likewise with foot pistons.
In this piece, for instance, Widor only splits the hands when he tells the organist to switch to the Positif (2nd lowest manual with the Recit coupled to it) on the last page of the piece and this is exactly where the organist switches his left hand up to that manual.
In general you try to follow the composer's instructions and the French are usually quite explicit about what they want.

Dear Joerg

I'm listening as I write to Widor first movement - what a really charming selection of tone colours and a brilliant tribute to the capabilities of Hauptwerk.

Please can I ask you to write up the Caen organ on the Inspirational Organs section of www.organmatters.com saying that a sampleset is available for Hauptwerk computer simulation, and again write up your particular instrument as an example of what Hauptwerk can do in the electronic organ section? It should be a good introduction to Hauptwerk for those looking for an electronic organ who have not come across it before. . . . You would also be very welcome to post details of your concerts - I am specifically asking performers to tell people not just the programme, but why they love that particular programme and why that programme on the instrument chosen. In your case this is going to be so very interesting in your ability with Haupwterk to choose the organ for the programme . . . . and again this should be a particularly good exposure for Hauptwerk - and please include the link to the Hauptwerk website or forum.

What you are doing is a really great inspiration to the organ world!

Best wishes
