St. Stephanuskerk's Marcussen (Moerdijk) in danger

PostTue May 25, 2010 1:16 pm

http://www.marcussenorgel-moerdijk.nl/

The website is in Dutch, but automatic translations (Google, Bing, etc.) are quite comprehensible.

"An organ is in danger of disappearing. Because St. Stephanuskerk [...] will eventually be closed and demolished to make room for apartments."

Funds are raised for the relocation of the organ in St. Joannis Baptistkerk, another church of the same parish situated in Klundert.

If I'm not mistaken, this organ is available as a sample set for Hauptwerk.

This organ was the first three manuals organ sampled for Hauptwerk. The acoustic of the room is rather dry, so the single release does not bother. A very nice instrument for practising. The disposition is very economic, but has seven! reeds out of 28 voices.

If the new room is more wet, maybe a new sampling would be very interesting - same organ in different rooms.

With best regards - Martin
You can play Bach on every organ.

Does anyone know if this organ sample is still available? While it still appears in the Hauptwerk instrument list, finding the source for purchase seems to be difficult. There is a link to http://www.betlehem.nl but I don't find anything pertaining to the Marcussen.

See: http://home.solcon.nl/ahoogendijk/index_uk.html
The site is a bit outdated, but I think the sample set is still available.

This is an excellent 3 manual baroque sampleset, using very little ram. I uses it on a 2 gig laptop for quite some time. It is hard to think that it might not be available any longer.

I've used this set for several years and find it particularly good for practice. It is a steal at its current price. It looks like the link posted on the Hauptwerk page for this instrument points to the wrong site. It would be shame if this one stopped being available.

I had never before thought of Hauptwerk as a conservationist's tool - preserving the sound of, and better the ability to (virtually) play, organs that are about to be dismantled (although it would appear that this organ is to be re-homed).

I am pleased to report that I have just purchased this and am very much enjoying practicing my Bach on it.
