Naive Question on Subwoofer Routing

I presently have the following speaker setup on an Audiofire 12
* Channel 1-2, two Mackie HR*24, stereo
* Channel 5, subwoofer

What I want is to have the subwoofer pick up the low frequencies of any given note, and the Mackies pick up the higher frequencies.

It appears that the only way to do this is to route the stereo output of channels 1+2 through the subwoofer and then on to the Mackies. Then the subwoofer would handle the lower frequencies and route the higher frequencies on to the Mackies.

So my present cable set up won't do the job.

Is my understanding correct?

For your current configuration, the routing you described makes perfect sense. If you use Hauptwerk Advanced and more audio channels, then you may wish to create an Aux mix channel pair or a pair which could be used to drive the subwoofer and possibly an outboard reverb. Or, you could route only pipes below a certain note number and route these to a channel pair to drive you subwoofer. In this case you really should have speakers to use with the subwoofer to handle the upper harmonics of the bass pipes.

The Echo Audiofire 12 and Mackie HR824 monitors are a great foundation.

I do have the Advanced edition, and just from your explanation and playing around a little bit, I see how to make it work.

Yes, I'd read the tutorial, but it hadn't quite jelled. More examples would have helped me (say two or three typical situations being set up instead of only one). But, no worries, I understand it now (I think), and this part of Hauptwerk is now standing up and barking for me.
