My new DIY cosolle

Good morning!
First of all, I’m sorry for my English…I hope you can understand what I write!
I finally decided to book in hauptwerk forum, I read many discussions and I learned a lot of things from all your topics…Thanks!
Now, I wish to share my very little experience with you…maybe I can be useful to somebody.
I have started to work on my console project exactly a year ago… my idea was to create a console to use with Caen CC organ sample set, without pretending to clone original console, indeed I have built a radiating-concave pedal board and I have “bent” stops jamb. After a few year of work (in my very short free time…) I have almost finished my work (I have still to do the bench and rear covering of console). I post some photos, if you want I can post also some photos of building phase.

Principal features are:
32 note AGO pedal board (even if Caen Organ have 30 notes on pb)
M-Audio Keyboards
Very old larch wood ( my great grand-mother house wooden floor!) for pedal board and keyboard stack
Led lighting of music stand
Laser engraved stops

Now, I have a problem: I really enjoyed myself building my console…and I want already start a new project!

The equipment you have built looks fantastic. In only 12 months work. I presume you have other activities to perform.

Would love to see the pictures of your organ in progress!

Thanks Gert, no problem for me.
Actually the screen you can see on the right of the consolle, is not a touch screen (at the moment...), it's useful to set up the organ...it's not essential for use! I've made the window on the left ( at the moment with Notre Dame drawing...) only for symmetry reasons...and exactly to possibly put in touch screens to use consolle with others sample sets.

You have done a wonderful job Erik. I hope your console brings you a great deal of enjoyment. I know it is very satisfying building your own and I can appreciate how much work you have put into building yours.

We are indeed a lucky group of people to have the magnificent Hauptwerk software and so many brilliant sample sets to inspire us to do projects like this. I have to say the information on this forum is also invaluable.

Great job! Here's a tip for you: Decoupage. I've thought of that for various areas on my organ console. The foot pistons in particular...

I will also say great job! Your work is outstanding and I'm sure doing a project like this gave you much satisfaction.

Being an avid woodworker and it being one of my more favorite hobbies (besides plunking around on the organ), I am continually amazed at the projects and level of finish quality I see here on the forum from what one might think at first are just a bunch of average "Joe" build it in your garage people. I have found we Hauptwerkians all seem to share a very common thing, and that is a do it your self set of skills that are way above average, and we have the ability to go above and beyond the norm expected. The workmanship and outcome I see is quite amazing! I always say if there's a will there's a way and it really holds true here. If we could all get together and form an organ compay, we would make one heck of a team and put out an amazing product!

I will also say, without a doubt there are quite a few here that have much more patience than I when it comes to building something. Patience is a great asset when it comes to seeing a project like this in your mind, planning it out on paper, and then seeing it through to the end no matter the time, limitations and effort involved. I quite often have friends and relatives that tell me I'm crazy (and I'm sure many others do as well) when I get started on a new project, but the same people are right there at the end to see and enjoy the end results. It truely is a great feeling to bring something like this to reality for all to see, and in this case hear as well!

Only a fool would go ice fishin' when one can make ice in the freezer with a lot less effort...

Or should i dare say: you might be a redneck if you go ice fishin' instead of just freezing water in the freezer...

Fishing for good ice is a lot tougher than it looks! We don't do it the easy way, freezers are for girly men, we make our ice outside in -20 weather. That's a a real freezer. Personally I'd rather (besides playing the organ) go snowmobiling. But, as we say here, don't eat yellow snow!
