Music calligraphy

PostSun Sep 18, 2011 3:38 am

With the Internet providing more and more access to facsimiles of the great composers' manuscripts, I am growing progressively more amazed at the expressive beauty of some of the old masters' manuscripts. J.S.Bach and F.Couperin are probably the most notable examples. The study of Couperin's handwriting, has led me to hear details in his two organ masses which I did not hear before.

Being a calligraphy lover, I have read a number of books on different styles of calligraphy, but so far my search for sources about music calligraphy has not turned up any results. Does anyone have good suggestions which books might be available on the subject?
