Hello Charles,
So far, I'm guessing that if I include couplers within the scoped pistons or sequencer choices, then launchpad should be OK with them. If not, then I have the option of changing my general pisons from the canadian keyboard's 20 to the launchpad, and using those pistons alternatively for couplers etc.
Correct. With Hauptwerk v4.0.0 you can in fact use the Launchpad buttons to control any virtual switches/buttons/pistons directly (even couplers/stops/tremulants). However, v4.0.0 doesn't have ability to control the LEDs inside the Launchpad's buttons, so you need to make sure that keep the '
Send matching MIDI output ...' option *un*ticked when auto-detecting Launchpad buttons.
Hence you can actually use Launchpad buttons to toggle virtual latching switches (stops/couplers/tremulants) directly if you like in v4.0.0, but the LEDs won't work, so you'd have to look at the computer screen to see what states the associated stops/couplers/tremulants were in.
Obviously I have to turn off Automap. When cold reading Launchpad's getting started guide, automap seemed the logical starting point- I find it completely impossible to remember instructions in the forum that go back to a time when I have no interest in the subject.
When we release v4.0.1 I expect we'll probably aim to include some form of tutorial in/with the Hauptwerk user guide for setting up a Launchpad with Hauptwerk.
The absence of abilty to use colours is disappointing, but it looks as if I would be wise to wait for 4.01- forgive my impatience, but am 83 now, and naturally want these things NOW.
I am using the Salisbury for most of my playning. I have the PAB professional and Paramount as well, but they need Reaper for more reverb- more fun with that and launchpad in the future?
A quick thought: perhaps it might be worth engaging Francois Ratte's (his forum username is 'micdev') consultancy services to help you get set up with Reaper and a temporary Hauptwerk build with Launchpad compatibility? He provides consultancy services (for a fee of course) and can set things up remotely on Hauptwerk users' computers if desired:
http://forum.hauptwerk.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=10397#p76471http://www.hauptwerkconsultant.com/We could then supply the necessary temporary builds to Francois, he could set them up (and update them if/when needed, since they're work-in-progress development builds) and you would then be able to use the Launchpad buttons while you wait for v4.0.1, as well as getting Reaper and reverb set up how you'd like it.
Best regards, Martin.
