Enjoyable Organ Day for some BDOA members ...

PostTue Aug 07, 2012 6:43 am

I was delighted to welcome three members of the Bristol & District Organists's Association for a day recently. Two of the members were investigating Hauptwerk, with a view to converting their existing consoles to use Hauptwerk.

Chris Mansfield is Secretary of the B&DOA, and Gary Desmond is an assistant organist at Bath Abbey. Malcolm Gibbs has a self-built electonically based console.

After a short tour of the console, and a brief explanation of how Hauptwerk works, we spent a great day exploring some of the European sample sets which I have in my collection of organs from around the world. We visited Forcalqueir (France), Puzstabolcs (Hungary), Hereford, Haverhill and Salisbury (England), and Ezstergom (Hungary).

I thought that HW users might like to see a few of the photographs taken by my wife during the day (between preparing & serving our lunch!). (Please note that the guitar amplifiers are not used with the organ!).

1. What's it all about?

3. Gary can't resist a piano either!Image

Here is a video which my wife took during the day using her small digital camera. The sound does not reflect the true quality as we used the camera's built in microhone. (It should open in your media player.)

All the best,

Kenneth Spencer
