installing a Custom Organ Defenition file...

PostFri Apr 12, 2013 10:32 am

Hi,

I'm only starting this now. I don't know how to load a custom organ def file. I've tried to load one of the examples custom files included with HW4, but I'm not able to 'install' them.

Where am I going wrong?

Brian.

Go to Design Tools, then Load Custom Organ, then pick the one you want to load. the next time you want to use that organ, it will be in the list you see when you use Organ, then Load Organ.

I've managed to load one of the example organs. I have also modified one of these files, and have changed the name in order to keep the original intact for future reference. After saving the modified file in the same location, I stall can't see it in the list of loadable organs.

After saving the modified file in Custom Organ Definitions, you need to then load it from there to see it in the list of loadable organs. If I remember correctly, you cannot simply save it in Organ Definitions in Sample Sets and Components, or it will not show up under Organ/Load Organ-you must load it from scratch as a Custom Organ.

Also, you state that you gave the file a new name. Did you also change the number in UniqueOrganID in the file? This can cause problems, as each organ definition must have a different ID number.

HI Mike,

Thank you for the advice. It worked. I think I am just too eager to see results and am running into silly problems.

Don't forget that when you generate a new Custom File, you need to change the ID number if you're modifying an existing file. Each different organ needs its own unique ID within the range of 800000 to 899999.

Glad I was able to help you. I have been in Hauptwerk from the beginning, so have learned many of these things by trial and error. Glad that someone else can profit from my experience.
