Intel i9 CPUs
Hi; My oldest son says Intel has a couple of problems with their i9 CPUs. One problem is that oxidation (corrosion?) forms on the interconnects between die in the package. The other problem, internal voltage spiking I believe, is being addressed by a microcode update that will be released soon ...

MIDI Interface Problem
Hi; I've been dealing with a problem for the last few years with the HW system at the church I play for. It happened very infrequently at first but progressively got worse. It finally got so bad, I went to the church 4 hours ahead of when a memorial service was scheduled and fought with the system ...

Re: Allen Monitor II vs Behringer Truth 2031a
The Behringer 2031A bottom out @ 50 Hz, so they do need to be supplemented with a subwoofer for 32' stops. Also, these monitors are a direct rip-off of the Genelec 1031A. Here's a lengthy thread on Genelec 8330 vs. Behringer 2031A. further on in the thread there are comments regarding the 1031A vs ...

Re: Replacing pedal reed switches - need an idiot's guide
A pencil style iron of maybe 50w and relatively small soldering tips would be a good way to go ( I saw that you already have made a purchase). You want enough power to quickly melt the solder but not damage what you are trying to work on. If the soldering tip is slightly wet with fresh solder just ...

Load up the St. Annes organ. (I'm assuming you have that organ already configured.)
When you press keys on the physical keyboards, do the same keys on the virtual keyboards move?

Re: Latest in sound cards?
I had the privilege of visiting Leo in his home back in 2009. At the time, his system was based on the now legacy Motu 24io which uses a PCIe card in the computer connecting to a maximum of 4 external units, each with 24 input and 24 output channels, via FireWire branded by Motu as AudioWire. He was ...

Re: MIDI supplies
I went with MidiBoutique for my project back in 2013. It was plug & play for 110 drawknobs, 26 rocking coupler switches, 21 toe studs and 4 expression/crescendo shoes. The plugging part was many hours of soldering/wiring which resulted in a console that functions very well. The 4 keyboards are from ...

Re: MOTU Microlite Driver on Mac OS 10.15
I use the Microlite on my large 4M console and the Microlite handles the traffic without complaint. You said: " I only connected the MIDI IN connectors from the four MIDI encoder boards (3M and pedalboard) to the MIDI IN on the MOTU Microlite USB interface". I think this may be your problem. The ...

Re: When will we reach this level?
The sanctuary I play in has multiple resonant nodes. I've done my best to voice around the issues but it is still a problem. Flutes seem to suffer more in this environment than other stops. Sometimes while playing I've been so annoyed by this extra resonance, I've held on to the offending note and ...

Re: Controlling SAMS Help Needed
Regarding timing, I am using 8 (5 input, 3 output) 60' MIDI Din cables which are 10' longer than the standard allows. They plug into a Motu MIDI Express128 and it is a USB bus powered unit. I have not limited the BAUD rate in HW and the buffer is set to 1024 The 3rd MIDI Out cable handles the HW ...

Re: Controlling SAMS Help Needed
I'm using older MidiBoutique decoders and was experiencing similar issues early on. The first thing I tried was to lengthen the pulses going to the On/Off coils which made a significant difference. I've settled on 300ms pulses. I went a couple of years until discovering and ticking "Always suppress ...

Re: Large Church Installation - Greenwood UMC - Greenwood, I
Drew; Make sure to experiment with the MIDI Note # offset. I had ignored it until recently and was very surprised and pleased with the increased detail and realism. I have 6 stereo pair for each keyboard and previous to this change, with any amount of stops in a given division drawn, all sound came ...

Re: Hauptwerk on 30 yr+ Rodgers organ
Various electronic organ MFGS have their own implementation of MIDI. Hauptwerk has some Rodgers specific selections that can be implemented which may solve your problem. Rather than Auto-Detecting the keyboards go into the Adjust MIDI/trigger settings manually for keyboard: . You should be able to ...

Re: Hauptwerk V6 Audio! Wow!
I also upgraded to V6. My computer is a fairly capable Corei7 (don't remember exact model). In V5 I ran the PAB Gravissimo with release tails truncated to 180mS, no IR and a 256 sample audio buffer. Upon installing V6 the only changes I made was moving the sample rate up to 96K and enabling the HD ...
