Re: Headerbar displays vertically in MS Edge
Thanks Brett! Clearing the cache did the trick. Surprised and pleased.

Headerbar displays vertically in MS Edge
I am unable to access the entire headerbar menu including the Logout command when viewing the forum in Microsoft Edge. The display is vertical and hidden behind the header. Is it possible that there is a setting to ensure the headerbar displays horizontally? Meanwhile Firefox works fine for me ...

Re: Subwoofer output
Thanks, Paul, for the good observation about filter behavior. I have never needed to measure the actual roll off of a MOTU 24ao output channel, but I did have a customer provide the 24ao on an install where I built the Tuba HT sub as part of the pedal division. It did work well down to 16 Hz. It's ...

Re: Subwoofer output
The MOTU 24ao has a specification that is essentially ruler flat down to 20 Hz. I would assume that the response continues well below 16 Hz as it's hard to imagine a filter that would cause such a steep cutoff. It's possible to do a quick check with a program such as REW from www.roomeqwizard.com ...

Re: Allen Monitor II vs Behringer Truth 2031a
Hi Philip, For a sub be sure to look over the Rythmik Audio products at www.rythmikaudio.com. They have some of the very best designs for organ use in a wide range of sizes depending on the size of your room. I can't remember if you heard my 18" model when we lived in Washington. It's overkill for ...

Re: Pedalboard wiring?
The SPI circuit doesn't use MIDI encoding of course. Whether or not the SPI data is ever converted to MIDI is irrelevant. A qualified technician could look at the data out (MISO) signal and see if all the keys are working at the cable from the PCB mounted on the pedal frame. This is a ...

Re: Pedalboard wiring?
There is a MIDI input board at the pedals as shown in the last photo. There is a SPI interface connecting the input board to the organs MIDI encoder. That circuit is easily handled by the six colored wires.

Re: USB Isolator
The likely problem would be running unbalanced cables from the audio interface to the amplifiers or powered speakers. It's normal to be able to test the audio interface and computer interface (USB-MIDI) and see 90db or better signal to noise ratios. Run balanced audio cables and keep all AC power ...

Re: Electrolytics in 1990s equipment
My suggestion would be to replace failed capacitors and leave working capacitors alone. I have replaced capacitors but never had to return to a device to replace a second capacitor. There may be exceptions where the exact capacitor value needs to be maintained, but this isn't normally the case ...

Re: Expression Pedal Range Issues
A properly programmed MIDI encoder should provide 127 discrete steps for the full travel of a potentiometer. That equates to about 40 discrete steps if only 30% of the pot's travel is possible. Look at a replacement encoder at least for the expression pedals. Otherwise, it's not difficult to add a ...

Re: Help upgrading Rodgers console
If the contacts are intermittent, it will be easier to replace the sensing system with a 12 v one than to replace the keyboards. I totally agree with using 12v keying. The phosphor-bronze busbar and whisker contacts seldom work reliably on 5v or less. I've done a few Rodgers consoles of this ...

Re: Resonance modelling
The assumption seems to be that if the resonance excited by each individual pipe were added (mixed) together then the result would be the same as the resonance excited by all the pipes played at the same time. I am not at all convinced that this is true. Pipes not only set up resonances. They pull ...

Re: Resonance modelling
This may be a bit off topic. I don't know if this is related to resonance modeling, but I will say that the LiquidSonics Illusion product does modulated convolution which to my ears provides extra realism when used in small doses. I suspect, like others, that as little denoising as possible is ...

Re: Bückeburg Free Sample Set - Sonus Paradisi
Yes, I just ordered the extra perspectives needed to fill out the set IMHO. I'm between organs with my best computer and sound equipment out in the garage while I work on the big five manual console. I turned on the portable heater and am looking forward to playing the Buckeburg samples this ...

Re: Resonance modelling
This is an interesting topic. I would point out that for pianos the individual strings are very tightly coupled via the soundboard and in particular the bridge. Still one can lift the dampers and merely speak to the piano and generate an amazing resonance. This is especially true with the more ...
