Re: Upper end Mixture work
http://www.stsulpice.com/Docs/specs.html On St. Sulpice, the only mixture supplied by C-C is the one on the Positif. The other mixtures are from the old Cliquot organ, with the Recit mixtures updated in the 20th century. That "shimmering" sound may be the classical Plein Jeu shining through, and not ...

Re: New Sample Set - St. Davids Cathedral, Wales
Are you saying that the noises and defects you listed were added by the sampleset and not present on the real organ, or that they are real and the sampleset producer should have edited them out? I'm always disappointed by samplesets that sound like the organ was recorded in pristine new condition as ...

Re: New Sample Set - St. Davids Cathedral, Wales
My first impressions of the full sampleset on my system, only an hour or two after installing: This is a beautiful organ, recorded very well. The Diapasons are warm and stately, the reeds are full of character, and the flutes and strings are well differentiated and not too quiet. The fifths plenum ...

Re: Uninstalling sample sets
I guess I am asking why the drop down menu only gives an option to Uninstall an organ when it is also required that the Data associated with that organ be also uninstalled. File | Uninstall is used for everything that File | Install can install. There are reasons to be able to uninstall just an ...

Re: Uninstalling sample sets
Hello Mnailor: Frankly, and this is usually the case, at this point I am not sure what I did, but what I do know and is indisputable, is that I thought I was following the Hauptwerk prompts which resulted in me not being able to open up that organ. Luckily, I have all the data of that particular ...

Re: Uninstalling sample sets
"I think my issue was that after uninstalling the ORGAN I may have also uninstalled other user settings based on additional prompts. This resulted in an organ that I did not wish to be uninstalled or affected to be permanently unusable." Can you say which organ you uninstalled and said Yes to ...

Re: Uninstalling sample sets
In Uninstall, you do need to remove both the organ and its data packages to free up all the space used by that sampleset. Uninstalling the organ removes the organ definition (ODF), and the cached samples from internal working files. Uninstalling the data packages removes the sampleset and components ...

Re: Long pause between starting a recording and changing tabs in the touch menu
I'd like to second that suggestion -- if it can be done at all! Not being able to hand register before a recording is limiting, although I haven't recorded on any samplesets that take more than two or three seconds to reset. I started keeping one general piston free to start the recording with my ...

Re: Wind supply modulation brightness
Update: Caen 2.67 does seem to respond very little to heavy wind demand, at least compared to CDs of Caen I have. Those recordings show an audible, but not excessive, pitch flattening and brightness fading as Caen approaches full organ. Maybe the 1999 restoration made the wind supply more rigid, so ...

Re: Wind supply modulation brightness
Yes, those are all default values. Thanks. Well, almost defaults. Caen sets random pitch adjustments to 0 so it can sync front and rear ranks' pitches.

Re: Wind supply modulation brightness
Okay, I hear it on St. Anne's. I was trying to use it on Caen 2.67. Even at 1000%, no audible difference. I guess the ODF has zeroes for this parameter. Edit: No, the values must be small but nonzero. If I also increase wind modulation depth to 125% overall, the brightness does diminish audibly when ...
