Re: Hauptwerk v9 and macOS Sequoia

This might be the "permissions" problem from Hauptwerk past rearing its ugly head. Basically, sometimes Hauptwerk has permission to access a file, sometimes it doesn't. OS updates don't recognize file permissions created by earlier OS versions, so they don't let Hauptwerk access certain files. To ...

Re: Ordering prebuilt custom PC from online companies

I've bought electronic parts from Newegg. They do a pretty good job. It gets here fast, it's well packed, they have a good selection. I've had many Dell computers, but I got fed up with them when I wanted to upgrade the RAM, but the only RAM that worked was a "proprietary" one that couldn't be ...

Re: York!!!

Haha, that's Hill enough for me! I have the Berlin Burton and Peterborough, and neither of those are perfect Hill either (though Peterborough is pretty close). The Burton organ is quite changed from how he left it, but you still get the nice personality of some stops. I don't think there's any Hill ...

Re: York!!!

I think it will be ok. It doesn't need the Chancel recordings. Close, medium and far are good enough, like most sets with long reverb. All I care about is it's another Hill! You can never have too many Hill sample sets.

Re: Hauptwerk IX Early User Experience

Thanks Martin, I'm sure you're right! I like the 20 bit though, so I'll take the risk. Surely 15 GB of RAM should be enough for the OS! Back when I was on Hauptwerk 4 Basic, I only had 4 GB of RAM. Somehow, I'd manage to run St. Eucaire on 16 bit (only the close perspective). I remember it was ...

Re: inspired acoustics "Urakami" and "Mannheim" Reverb Settings

I don't have these sets, but I do have the PAB by inspired acoustics. Not all organs need to use convolution reverb. If you feel an organ needs convolution reverb, you can add it provided you have the IR (impulse response). Usually the best is to use the original acoustics if they are available ...

Ah, ok. Thanks! It's been a while since I last worked with the busses. It's even easier than I thought now!

Re: Hauptwerk IX Early User Experience

Well, I went and upgraded to V9. Like the new menu! It feels easier to navigate. I left hiding all the optionals "unchecked!" Next time I play my silver octopus set, I'll give it a separate bus with its own convolution reverb. That will be nice! When I loaded the PAB wet at 16 bit, I thought I ...

Re: how to make samlples with loop points

I think you also posted about this on another forum. Email Hauptwerk and ask for the developer tools. Usually they use Loop Auditioneer. There's other tools, but that's probably the best one. Hauptwerk looks for something specific to tell the frequency in the metadata of the .wav file, and I think ...

Re: Upgrade advice

Well, as far as I know if you're a mac fan, the only real answer is Motu. The new M processor macs and the mac's built in driver for audio interfaces inexplicably create audio glitches in Hauptwerk (and other audio programs, apparently). No word though on if Apple is ever going to fix it. Motu ...

Re: What is your favorite Simplest for practice with headphones?

I think it does depend on what you like/want to play, and what your purpose of practicing is. If you want to buy a set, what is your budget? For most general purpose practicing, I use Notre Dame de Metz. For most baroque pieces, I use Pipeloops' Maihingen with a Silbermann temperament. For Spanish ...

Re: Albinoni - Giazotto - Adagio in SOL min. registration terms

The Giazotto (Albinoni) Adagio is a modern work in the style of Albinoni. Everyone thought it was Albinoni, but it turns out it wasn't. Still, a very nice piece. If you want it to sound Baroque Italian, my usual go-tos are the St. Carlo in Brescia (SP), and the Farkasret (Augustine's virtual organs ...

Re: Release announcement: Two new organs from the Stumm family

Thanks for your response! I went and bought the Meisenheim. It's a very good organ, I really like it. It has a fair bit more reed tone than most of my other baroque organs, which I quite like, and it's also not voiced very aggressively, which I also like. But now I'm doubting not having bought the ...

Re: Fatar Key Feel

That's fair! Ask your planned supplier, they should have all that data. Still, it's better to start working once you have them in hand for test fitting, and in case one is slightly different than the others (it has been known to happen).

Re: Syndyne Stop Action Magnet Suppliers in the UK

You are somewhat stuck. As you've gathered, there's no real UK distributor, and most organ builders don't want to be digital organ part distributors either. There may be a US distributor, I recall reading about this on the organ forum, but I don't recall their name. Perhaps you could order from them ...
