Re: Launchpad Use
Mark, Martin and Danny, thank you for your replies. I now have an understanding of how a lauchpad can be useful with HW. My “console” has three manuals with 20 pistons under the middle keyboard. Using a launchpad appears to be a comparatively inexpensive way of creating additional pistons. But they w ...

Launchpad Use
I'll begin with the well worn thought that the only stupid question is the one that is not asked. Over time I've read a number of discussions about Novation's launchpad use with Hauptwerk. But so far I've not been able to work out what launchpads are actually used for. I've looked at Novation's ...

HW7 Upgrade to 8?
I've been of two minds about whether I should upgrade from HW7 to 8. My primary reason for considering this upgrade had been to improve the speed when I switch from one large RAM organ to another large organ. A few weeks ago there was a $99 upgrade from 7 (advance licence) to 8 (as well as a ...

Re: Loading St Mary Redcliffe on 64 GB ram
Here is a report on my final addition; it leaves 7.4GB of unused RAM: All three perspective at 20 bit, with maximal releases; stop action and rank sliders also at 20 bit; and blower and ambience at 16 bit. I hope this may be of assistance to others who may be wondering how much can be loaded into a ...

Re: St Mary, Redcliffe
Hi Richard, I have two questions about the actual SMR organ but they're connected to the HW organ. I've been puzzled about how and why an electro pneumatic organ would have rank sliders. My only experience of windchest sliders has been on tracker organs. I remember a good few decades ago being one ...

Re: Which speakers small room - 6.5m2
I've been using two Alpha 65 (not 50) Evo speakers. They sit at either end of the console table and point forwards. I've been very happy with the sound. The room is not small but I sit with my back perhaps six feet from one of the end walls. More than half the room is carpeted; the entire ceiling of ...

Re: St Mary, Redcliffe
I've posted previously about the bit depth, etc., that I've been able to load of the new St Mary Redcliffe into my 64 GB of RAM on a Windows 11 pc: http://forum.hauptwerk.com/viewtopic.php?t=21463&sid=830b5e3387d751adbc8270afb09a9dda I did this experimenting while using a demo licence. As others ...

Re: Loading St Mary Redcliffe on 64 GB ram
After my previous post, I gradually increased the bit depth etc for the different perspectives. As things stand at the moment, I have all three perspectives loaded in 20 bit with releases set at maximum, except for the close perspective releases that are at default minimum (as suggested by Mark). I ...

Re: Loading St Mary Redcliffe on 64 GB ram
Mark and Martin, Thank you. I'd read the relevant pages in the manual a couple of times but had not realized how simple it was to have different settings for different groups of ranks. I loaded the sample set as I set out in my first post. Not surprisingly the organ definitely sounds better than ...

Loading St Mary Redcliffe on 64 GB ram
I'm testing how much of the new Saint Mary Redcliffe sample set I can load in my organ; it has 64 GB ram. The Beauty in Sound website says that the sample set needs 96 GB to load everything in the maximum possible way. However, the website also describes a way of loading the sample set so it will ...

Re: Not loading the tremulant ranks (Buckeburg)?
Update: while typing and sending my previous post, I received a very prompt response from François at HW support. He identified the likely cause and provided me with a probable solution.
I will report back in due course once I have an opportunity to return to my computer hopefully later today.

Re: Not loading the tremulant ranks (Buckeburg)?
Hi Mark and Martin, thank you for your comments. Yesterday's failed attempt to load the organ in 24-bit generated a diagnostic file, which I have now sent to support at Hw dot com. I've had a look at the HW log file for yesterday but was not able to see any clear statement of what went wrong. Before ...

Not loading the tremulant ranks (Buckeburg)?
After having used HW for some time I’ve just now woken up to the fact I’ve not been loading all the ranks of an organ in 24 bit. When first installing a new organ, I’d always changed the default 16bit to 24 bit and had assumed this would cover the entire organ. I’ve now realized that it only affecte ...

Re: Modern playing aids
I agree with others who have said this is not cheating. I also play solely for my own enjoyment. In some ways one can perhaps compare the use of the assorted couplers in Hauptwerk with other devices and tools that are available these days for people with physical limitations. I use forearm crutches ...

Re: Buckeburg voicing / can't voice question
Hello Tompion, use the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard Lest there be any confusion, Danny's referring to holding down the Ctrl key on the computer keyboard (as opposed to pressing anything on a MIDI keyboard) whilst clicking on multiple ranks in the rank list on the voicing screen, so as to 'multi ...
