My local church will shortly be wanting to sell a Johannus 20 with full MIDI that is currently being used as a Hauptwerk MIDI Console. It would suit a home installation or small church.

Re: MIDI-USB cable recommendation
Currently the only 2 adaptors I fully trust are the Roland UM-ONE mk2 and the ESI Midimate Ex. Neither are that expensive.

Re: Recommendation for an inexpensive 8 channel DA for Mac
It depends what you mean by inexpensive. I was on a tight budget and purchased the ESI Gigaport HD. I have been very happy with it using 6 channels (bandwidth limitation on USB 2). The newer Gigaport EX is USB 3 and, I believe, supports 8 channels at full resolution. I have never had any problems ...

Re: Midi output from console not always reaching Hauptwerk
In the past I have sometimes found that USB connections cause problems after several years due to a bad contact. It is worth, when the PC is off, just unplugging and reconnecting each USB lead in turn. I push them in and out a few times to ensure a clean contact. It is quick, easy and might help ...

Re: USB Isolator
Although I have not used one with Hauptwerk, I did need to purchase one for my Pianoteq setup. I was getting background noise and tracked it to the USB MIDI connection. I bought a cheap “bare board” isolator on eBay and it solved the problem.

Re: Sound interruption at every registration step
I may be wrong but I believe the problem is this. On my Johannus 20, I cannot disable the combinations. Yes, it is possible to configure the combination so that it does not appear to set any stops. However this is an illusion as it is actually setting all the stops OFF. If you use this with HW then ...

Hi Gedact8,
If you want to contact me (either PM or via my website) maybe we could chat about this overt the phone. I sometimes think that this kind of issue is easier discussed than written about. I am happy to help if you wish.

Re: Several midi pistons for the same virtual piston
I think that you could wire the switches in parallel. This way you should only need one connection to the MIDI encoder.

I hope to have the upcoming version, which includes this new feature, out later this month.
I will post to this thread when it is generally available.

Re: Johannus Symphonica 45 Setter implementation
Hi, If you are using Windows then I have an easy solution if you are interested. The upcoming version of my program OrganAssist will support MIDI translation in a much simpler manner. I believe, from your description and my testing, it should work. If you are interested in a pre-release copy just ...

E-scooters to be fitted with "tuba-like" warning sound
In today's Daily Telegraph there is an article headed: E-scooters to be fitted with "tuba-like" warning sound to alert pedestrians. It continues: "The safety feature might put the wind up those nearby but could prevent injuries suffered in collisions". Any suggestions for which particular one might ...

Armley Shultze Concert
Just in case anyone missed it, Jonathan Scott performed a concert on the Armley Schultze organ which was posted on YouTube on Saturday. https://youtu.be/DSwelKqsBNA Jonathan's regular concerts have been such a joy during the past 18 months. Although Hauptwerk is not mentioned by name, he does refer ...

Re: Custom stop display on touch screen monitor
I realise that I am coming a little late to this discussion but noticed that Kevin mentioned OrganAssist. If you are using Windows with a touchscreen then OrganAssist can act as a customisable overlay to your sample set. By editing the organ layout you can resize individual stops and the copy and ...

Re: How do I get a compatible sequencer that works with HW
OrganAssist can import any MIDI file and you can optionally choose to assign any MIDI channel to any manual at the time you import a file. If you are not importing a file in the format of the current organ, you need to select Import General MIDI file which provides these options. If you need any ...
