Re: Confused by 'Perspectives'

I think perspectives are supposed to work like this: https://files.catbox.moe/3qe0zs.png (Sorry about the colours!) Each "perspective" is one pair of stereo speakers. The options on the voicing screen allow you to pan each pipe to anywhere in that space. Having said that there are other uses. The HW ...

Re: York!!!

... they "only" have 128GB. I don't know what they are messing about at. Back in the 1970s, I got my work computer to play the BWV565 Toccata using only a fraction of the full 16kB available! OK, it was only the main tune and the notes were recorded on paper tape for timing as much as anything ...

Re: An unserious suggestion

Plan B: How about a better way to test polyphony? Something that does not require all the keys to be held down at once. For instance, starting the sequence by pressing the bottom key and adding notes if higher keys are pressed and subtracting notes if lower keys are pressed. So, if you pressed the ...

Re: SSD reading very slowly

Apologies, I have not read this thread in detail but looking at the first post, I wondered what the cooling arrangements were like for the SSD drives. Hot SSDs will slow down quite dramatically. Heatsinks should be fitted and linked thermally to the SSD. Completely filling them is not good, either ...

Hauptwerk Mixer - Diagram

I have been struggling to get my head round the Hauptwerk Mixer. This is partly because I am not much of a reader. Diagrams are more my thing and the Hauptwerk Manual is a remarkably diagram-free area. Consequently, I decided to draw up some diagrams as a personal aide memoire and wondered if others ...

Re: Confused by 'Perspectives'

Are you surprised? No, I am not surprised! I have spent my working life in IT and I understand some of the problems. The first problem is that it is not possible to write any instruction manual that will suit everyone. If you write it in such a way that a beginner will understand it then an ...

Re: Confused by 'Perspectives'

(I also have trouble reading the user guide because I can't remember long, italicized phrases as if they were references to objects -- I need a noun, or a noun with one or two adjectives, to remember what I'm reading about. It's thorough and well-written, but presents me with a learning difficulty ...

Re: Confused by 'Perspectives'

Thanks. I may flowchart this myself someday, just to understand it myself. If I do that, I'll share it with a few folks for feedback. I know exactly how you feel! I spent quite a while trying to read the relevant chapters in the manual and I won't tell you how long it took to get my head round the ...

Thanks Martin, I saw the word "panels" and assumed it was the panels with the stops on. I must stop trying to answer technical questions early in the morning!

Re: Panels rendering off screen

I had a problem with panels not being on the screen then I discovered a menu item that I did not remember either ever seeing before or ever remember changing.

It is on the "View" menu and the option is: "Zoom virtual console to fit (for this organ)"

Re: Subwoofer output

Have you tried playing a low note then walking round the room? OK, you might need some help for that or a way to jam a note on in some way. I was surprised when I tried it. In the middle of the room the bass note I was playing dropped right off in volume while it was much louder towards the sides ...

Re: Two touch screen

I went into panic mode having acquired two touchscreens for my new PC when I discovered that the touch system did not work in Windows 11. However, I did manage to get it working but I am not entirely sure how! "Tablet Mode" is definitely the key. You used to be able to turn it on and off in Windows ...

Re: CPU Spikes to Red Causing Intermittent Audio Artifacts

Not sure if this is relevant but it gave me a shock! I have just built a new Hauptwerk PC. It is not fully up and running yet so I am playing with it. Yesterday, while all was quiet, my new PC suddenly sprang into life, the fans all came on and the CPU monitor shot up to 99%. Oh my goodness, it is ...
