Re: Global MIDI/key triggers
This feature would be a real time-saver. For each organ, I have 48 pistons to auto-learn for master generals and scoped divisionals. Exactly the same mapping for every sample set, except when I have to use one master combination for GC to force cancel to leave ventils on. Thanks for logging it as a ...

Re: Utilizing a console with existing MIDI
Maybe I'm reading this incorrectly, but it seems the advice is to have the MIDI console control either the stops or the combinations of the virtual organ, not both. But I work with both all the time, and the only minor inconvenience is that, once a piston activates a Hauptwerk combination (blind on ...

Re: Advice sought on good multi channel audio interfaces
You can use either an ADAT DAC or a second audio interface with ADAT input and 8 analog outputs. In my setup, the RME UFX is the interface Hauptwerk uses. The ranks routed to the UFX ADAT channels are forwarded to the 2nd audio interface -- mine's a MOTU 828mk3 (overkill for a DAC) -- which sends 8 ...

Re: Advice sought on good multi channel audio interfaces
I use an RME Fireface UFX on USB and ADAT from it to a MOTU 828mk3, with 18 analog outputs and 2 free. This works well. If I hadn't wanted enough analog inputs (16) to still use my organ's samples, which ended up not being used anyway, I could have gone with a less expensive ADAT DAC instead of the ...

Re: New UK organ sample sets?
What I'd like to have along these lines is a restored pre-1800 English organ. Now, for English baroque music, I have two flawed workarounds: Use the Little W. J. Hart organ, which at least precedes some of the romantic tonal scheme changes. Or use the Freiberg G. Silbermann or other German baroque ...

Re: Caen & Switch defaults to 'on' state
A workaround is to set all the master general combinations you use with all the ventils on, and map your general cancel to one of them with ventils on but stops off. In other words, no pistons on your console ever turn off the ventils, and you hit cancel after you load the organ to turn them on. I ...

Re: Memory issues: Zwolle v.2.5 (24bit) in 26GB
The L and R samples don't require extra audio channels. According to the SP web site, the L and R samples for a given rank are both supposed to be routed to the same stereo audio group. There is no special configuration and no need for a different arrangement of audio groups for organs with L and R ...

Re: Touchscreen suggestions
This refers to multi-touch points, where your software recognizes several fingers touching the screen at the same time for some special gesture or to select a region. Not used by Hauptwerk as far as I've found.

Re: When does an organist start needing three manuals?
I have a 3 manual, but it's unnecessary for almost all the music I play. Most baroque music is for one or two manuals, but a French baroque dialogue or grand jeu sometimes needs a quick jump to an echo manual. Same for some early English voluntaries that expect either divided stops on the Great or a ...

Re: 8 channels + sub woofer in church. Help
I misread your placement, so where I referred to side speakers, those are in front, and 4 could be in one stereo group. Sorry -- can't see your post while typing mine. Tablet...

Re: 8 channels + sub woofer in church. Help
I'm not clear about which speakers share the same amp channel, with 11 speakers vs 9 channels. But the more usual way to set up audio groups is to group speakers together by similar type/size/placement, and let Hauptwerk do the detailed assignment of pipes within each group. That's more workable ...

Re: Audio output groups with L and R components
From the Sonus Paradisi site under Rotterdam Marcussen/Features, in the Tremulants topic: "It is important to load both the left and the right component of the front ranks into the same audio stereo output of Hauptwerk (the front or main output) to get the full sound of the stop. Similarly, it is ...

Re: Audio output groups with L and R components
I do have some samplesets with L and R samples, but I route them to my usual audio groups of stereo channel pairs. Is there some reason I missed for routing them differently? I assumed the L and R samples would be placed correctly in a stereo output, and it sounds like they are. Thank you.

Re: How do you control virtual organ stops from physical kno
I use a preexisting digital organ with about 70 fixed-label drawknobs to control 12 Hauptwerk sample sets. I had to plan the drawknob-to-sample stop layout for the largest organs in advance, on paper, to come up with a consistent scheme I could remember. As another poster dicussed above, the bulk of ...

Re: Saving Master General pistons
There is an option in HW 4 to autosave combination sets under General Settings, General Preferences. I use this and never have to manually save piston combinations. Page 133 of the user guide.
