I’m surprised how deeply this has upset me. I only had one direct communication from Ed - about an abstruse aspect of theatre organ programming – but he helped me a lot on the public part of the forum, most recently when I was reconfiguring part of my organ to go directly from USB to ADAT (as suggested by mnailor), and I referred to problems with the MOTU 828 Mark 3 sound card. He was a frequent and helpful poster on this forum, sometimes assisting others, sometimes offering general information we would otherwise have missed. I had a difficult day yesterday, coming to terms with the fact that this wonderful source of help and support is no longer with us.
His profile here records the fact that he made 7,283 posts since joining the forum in 2005 – an average of 1.25 posts per day for sixteen years. One consolation in all this is that the page set up by the family in his memory includes a photograph – taken at an organ console – so at last I can put a face to the name. A great loss, but I am grateful to be one of the many people who benefited from his knowledge and kindness.
