Forum is regularly overloaded / returns SQL errors

Since I've started haunting the forum again, I've noticed that VERY frequently I cannot pull up the forum at all due to SQL errors and access overloads. I presume others experience the same thing? It's getting rather annoying. I've taken screen grabs of the error message if admin needs to see it but I'd guess the error log could already tell them what they need to know. Is this something that could be improved?

The SQL error I usually get is just because it is over the 25 maximum users.

Sounds like the forum software could benefit from connection pooling.
