Forum Capacity Exceeded Again?

PostFri Mar 12, 2021 7:07 pm

This error message would suggest that only 25 users can access the site at once:

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

User 'dwywhmjb_hwforumuser' has exceeded the 'max_user_connections' resource (current value: 25) [1226]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

Seems like someone should raise the number. This is a fairly frequent occurence.

I believe the answer lies in the words 'it costs more money'.

Yes, this does happen frequently, and it's a shame. I frequently get that error as well.

Certainly a nuisance and a big waste of time which continues to cost all of us. Bummer. :x

Except that at 0630 GMT this morning the opening page reports that:

In total there are 196 users online :: 4 registered, 0 hidden and 192 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)

I guess that the problem is more complex, though no less irritating.

Another observation - the number(s) of those online varies as to the topic. Right now re this topic there are 2 members and 66 guests. At the same time on another topic, I was the only member with 12 guests. There used to be on the previous Forum a connotation as to the most viewers at a given time.

There still is, but only on the Home/Index page

I don't believe it has anything to do with the number of users logged in, it is the number of simultaneous transactions the server is allowed to perform. Server capacity control.

This is not my area of expertise, but if this is something that could be fixed without additional costs it seems like someone at MDA should fix this. I never experience this error message on any other online forum I participate in.

Yup. Just like I said in the second post in this thread. For me, it is a small price to pay (an error here and there) to use this excellent free forum. Just refresh a time or two when the error occurs, and one is back with the data requested. It only takes a minute or two...
