A small question...How much disk space do I need on my PC (Windows) to install Hauptwerk 7? And will it work with Windows 7 professional? Merci for your answer. I believe you still recommend Apple computers? I am considering Apple for a future "big" computer. À bientôt!

Thanks, Peter.

Once installed, the difference in drive space requirements between Hauptwerk v6 and v7 should be negligible. However, we recommend having at least 6 GB of free space for running Hauptwerk's installer.

Yes -- all platforms that were supported for v7 are also still supported for v7.

You can find the full v7 prerequisites document via the 'Prerequisites' link near the top-right of this page on the website: https://www.hauptwerk.com/requirements/

This is what the Hauptwerk prerequisites document says on the subject:

If you are considering buying a computer to run Hauptwerk and you do not have much experience with building computers, diagnosing driver and hardware compatibilities, and so forth, then we would recommend either buying an Apple Mac (Apple Macs should give reliable performance 'out of the box') or buying a PC from a company that offers ready-made high-performance PCs specifically designed, tested and supported for use with Hauptwerk.

However, note that we don't officially yet support Apple's new Apple-CPU Macs. This is the excerpt that covers that:

The only Macs officially supported at this point in time are those with Intel CPUs. However, we understand that Hauptwerk does work and perform very well on Apple's new Macs with Apple ARM-based CPUs (running under Apple's Rosetta translator), with no known additional problems at the time of writing, and we’ll provide support on them for issues that can be reproduced on one of our primary supported Mac platforms listed above, and that don’t appear to be related to the platform.

Martin,

If I have the Hauptwerk 7 trial version, do I need to re-install everything or do I simply need a code? Thank you for answering.

Peter,

Just remember that Hauptwerk is a gas, so it fills the available space!!!

At least that is my experience with this amazing software. I started (very successfully) with an 8G laptop, now I use a dedicated organ computer with 6 HDDs, the latest is 6T.

Fantastic

Thanks, Peter.

When buying the v7 version (whether full or upgrade) you'll be sent an activation code. You would just need to enter that code into iLok License Manager (via its 'Licenses | Redeem Activation Code' menu option), then your existing v7 trial installation will automatically become a full licensed version -- there's no need to reinstall anything.

All I can say is I'm looking forward to my new computer and Version VIII being assembled by Francois. Hopefully I'll avoid all of the new upgrade issues that I would encounter if I tackeld it myself.

Hello Peter,

Thanks for the planned purchase.

It's the username that you chose when you created your iLok account on ilok.com. I've just had a look in PACE's system, and I see that your username is the same as your email address, so you just need to enter your email address for that.
Best regards, Martin.

Makes all my samplesets sound new again.

Well worth it.
