The Incredible Living Room Organ

PostSat Jan 01, 2022 2:00 pm

Everyone,

Some of you have been following my pandemic exploits which included procuring a 1995 custom four-manual Rodgers organ to serve as my base of operations for concert recording. Because the console was too large to fit through our home's doors, it had to live in the garage for many months. I even made a couple videos featuring "The Incredible Garage Organ". Now that we have replaced our front door with a double entry, the organ resides in our living room.

To celebrate the new year, I recorded a video yesterday, "The Incredible Living Room Organ," which you can find on my YouTube channel here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ8Kh0LxlmM

The video features my own transcription of Aaron Copeland's "Fanfare For the Common Man." As always (unless there are copyright issues) I have made this transcription available to all on my web site here:

http://www.nightbloomingjazzmen.com/Les_Sheet_Music.html

The video also features my recasting (using the CODM) of Evensong's FCCLA "all chancel" sample set to match the stops and couplers of my instrument. This piece required the entire multitude of reeds up to and including the chamades.

Happy New Year to all!

Les,

I also enjoyed your performance, videoing and the transcription very much.

The first playback, I had to watch, for all the obvious reasons. But I did a second playback with eyes closed, to immerse myself in the piece. Kudos even more on the transcription capturing the Fanfare's true essence!

Am really appreciating the multiple talents which you are sharing.

Mark
