Installing an already installed organ

PostSat Oct 08, 2022 6:19 pm

What happens if I try to install an organ that is already installed?

Is it:

(a) Hauptwerk knows it's already installed and doesn't install anything.

or

(b) I end up with 2 of the same organ installed.

?

Thanks.

Neither. The data files and ODF are replaced, leaving your organ settings alone. You do have to recache the organ on next load. You'd only bother doing this if you have an organ update or missing or corrupted installation components. But it shouldn't do any harm to re-install the same version.

You can't get two copies of the same organ ID installed.

Thank you, that makes sense.

The reason I asked is that I bought a new sample set that has two .rar installation files, and it's not clear if I installed one or both, and since I don't know, if installing the same one again was going to start filling up my SSD with duplicate samples, I wanted to avoid that.

Hell Aah,

If your new organ has 2 .RAR file, you need to install both. Many organs requires many RAR file for the complete installation.

Some newer organ will require the download of many file, but only one will be a RAR file, the other files being "parts" of the RAR file. When you will go to FILE | Install... you will see only 1 file (RAR), but all the other "parts" will be automatically installed by Hauptwerk installer.

As Mnailor said (thanks), there is no real problem to re-install a second time a file.
Best regards
