Standing desks for organ desks

PostTue Jul 06, 2021 1:34 pm

I've come across this maker for standing desks:

https://www.flexispot.com/catalog/produ ... egory/163/

Apparently the internal width can be adjusted up to 66.9 inches. That would accommodate an AGO pedalboard. This might be a boon both for an organ bench or for a console. Anyone used these?

Interesting concept. I'd be interested as to how stable it would be?

If repurposed as an organ bench with a thicker, shallower top (if stable even with a person's bodyweight on it), it could be a lower cost alternative to the available $800-2000 USD of adjustable height benches and mechanisms.

That would get me excited :D

Or have I missed lower cost adjustable bench mechanisms?

I have two standing desks (work and home, one electric, one mechanical) and I've also looked at multiple others in various office stores near me which happen to stock a few. You'd be surprised just how stable they can be. Not surprisingly, my L desk is rock solid, however my smaller mechanical crank one at home is also very solid. They are quite heavy and made from a decent gauge steel. If you're really into it and willing to spend a little more, you can even find four-leg versions which have huge payloads and wouldn't wiggle an inch.

As for using one for a bench, this is a rather clever idea. There are many with payloads which are in the 500lb range. They aren't the cheapest, but then again, neither are new organ benches which can easily run you 1k.
