Arduino Leonardo

PostSun Jan 15, 2023 2:26 pm

Because I can’t count, I bought an Arduino Leonardo to midify a 61 note manual.

My thinking went 5 octaves, 12 notes, a 12x5 scan matrix sounds ideal. And then I failed to remember there’s a reason it’s called a 61 note keyboard…

The Leonardo has 17 usable pins. I can’t think of any logical way of achieving all 61 notes. Anyone care to correct me?

8x8 is 64. Most keyboard use an 8x8 matrix in their wiring. If yours doesn't, then you can always rewire it to work (adjusting the columns).

Thanks for the speedy reply... I could 8x8 I guess; existing wiring is 12x5 + 1 note...

The other thing you can do is destroy/remove the LED so you can use pin 13. I haven't done it before, but should be easy enough.

? I'm already using pin 13, it's just a pin... (I'm not on a pro micro if that's what you mean?)

Pin 13 is usually wired to the onboard LED. Trying to use it as a normal pin can create problems if you weren't expecting that LED to be there! On my count at least, if you count pin 13, you should have 18 pins.
