One of my correspondents had reported to me the strange behavior of his mouse, for several weeks. Its cursor moved and clicked randomly without being asked anything; a very unpleasant behavior for a Hauptwerk user who thus saw his mouse pulling or removing stops that he dit not requested. This happened with every mice, whether wired or bluetooth and with every software.
After trying all the standard remedies, reinstalling Windows, Hauptwerk and every possible driver, he consulted the guy who had sold him the PC, who immediately advised him to thoroughly clean his touch screen. These screens indeed end up retaining fingerprints, fly droppings and other marks that are interpreted by the mouse as so many commands. Once the touch screen was well scoured, the behavior of his mice immediately returned to normal. It wasn't obvious, but good to know.
