Hauptwerk Organ Generator Software

PostSun Jun 19, 2022 7:04 am

We have produced a new software tool that largely automates the work required to generate a CODM and ODF from an organ specification.

It is intended both to allow samples to be processed and specifications tried out (an 'organ builder's workshop') and also to speed the path to a 'ready to ship' sample set.

An overview of the Organ Generator is at http://hauptwerk.nagioff.com/HauptwerkO ... erview.pdf and full documentation is available for anyone who is interested; send me a request - stephen@nagioff.com

This software is born out of our experience of helping other sample set makers to produce large church and theatre organs with facsimile graphics and increasingly complex ODF functionality, for which we have gradually generated tools to take the drudge out of adding ODF functions.

Examples of organs where we have provided graphics and ODF functionality include:
https://sites.google.com/view/melotone- ... -opus-1680
https://www.silveroctopus.co.uk/concert-125 (deluxe version)
https://sites.google.com/view/melotone- ... se-compton

Interesting work! This looks way more complete than any of the previous CODM generating tools. Thanks for telling us about it. Is it available for Mac OS, and what is the cost?

There is no cost for the app. We run the software here for you; the software is mainly targeted at people recording their own samples and wanting us to assist with CODM/graphics/ODF production.

Olivia and I are both professional Software Engineers, but Hauptwerk programming is only a recreation/hobby for both of us. Releasing the software package and documenting/supporting it would be very different from us running it here.

We like to work as partners with sample set producers. We get a specification and we send back the CODM, ODF and test graphics. Similarly, if you then want us to produce graphics and advanced ODF functions for the sample set, you send us a list of functions you want and good quality console images. Olivia produces a layout with the help of her graphics layout tools and sets up ODF functions using her ODF tools. We send you the CODM, ODF and custom graphics.

We do not ask partners for any payment for the work we do. If you sell the sample set to your customers, we do not ask for any of the money you receive. What we do ask for is the WAV samples, so that I can enjoy playing the organ on my home console. I usually post recordings that I make on contrebombarde (http://www.contrebombarde.com/concertha ... s/view_all) and one of our partners uses these recordings as audio demos.
