Weird level change

PostMon Jun 24, 2019 1:32 pm

Hello everyone,
in my developing sampleset I have the following problem: When I pull out many stops until Tutti and hold a chord, it starts too loud, and after a few seconds it falls back to a normal level. It sounds like a shutting swell. After the first seconds you can play Tutti as often as you like, there is no level change.

Has anyone an explanation for this issue? Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Thomas

Hi tf11972

As I understand it, Tutti in organese means pulling out ALL the stops AND couplers. It you then play some chords with both hands and feet then you are putting the maximum possible stress on your audio system. It is possible that it does not like it and you may get clipping - it is also possible that your amplifier's power supply cannot fully cope with maximum power for more than a few seconds - further promoting clipping and loss of volume.

Very few amplifiers or speakers are rated for continuous maximum power and damage could also result.

Further it is likely that your hearing (which has a logarithmic response to volume) gets used to the loud noise and you are no longer able to tell what volume you are hearing.

Another less likely possibility is you are putting a high load on your computer's cpu and it could be overheating.

Or maybe it has something to do with the Hauptwerk wind model? If you are developing new sample sets, either disable the wind model or optimizer the parameters

It is not clipping, because the level change is also hearable and visible on recordings. I think, it is the windmodel, too, but I don't know which parameter.

If you think it is the wind modelling see

It's strange that my testers told me about the phenomenon. Yesterday I tested the sample set in the tutti for minutes without any volume change.

Then you have to ask them what the used settings are of:
- Organ settings | Organ preferences | tab Audio engine
- Organ settings | Organ preferences | tab Wind model
and their configured polyphony value

Also also ask them for a MIDI recording while this fault happens.

Then you have an identical situation while playing their recoding
