Suite for Harpsichord by Anthony Newman

PostMon Jul 29, 2013 1:15 pm

Hello! I have just posted my performance of the Suite for Harpsichord (1994) in six movements, by Anthony Newman (1941 - ), on the Ruckers Harpsichord.

I Fantasy
II Allemande
III Courante
IV Sarabande Ancienne avec Agrements
V Gigue
VI Antique Fugue (optional)

In September 2012 I was fortunate to hear Anthony Newman perform his Suite for Harpsichord in recital at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. After the performance he kindly gave me a copy of the Score. He has also recorded this work on CD, available online at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/anthonynewman13 (Tracks 11-15, available for download at $2.45 for the Set). These recordings also served as a reference for my producing these performances.

A dazzling display of Neo-Baroque Exuberance...

The Gigue in particular is filled with "quite difficult play", in Dr. Newman's own words... quite possibly an understatement.

Posted by permission of the Composer.
Hoping that you enjoy the Music!
