Thanks!

Hi Steve,

Absolutely - when apple released the 12.9 first-gen iPad Pro couple years back I jumped on it and haven't looked back. Many scores available from IMSLP as PDF; for things I own privately, there are a variety of camera-scanner apps which use the iPad camera to digitize. Coupled with an apple pencil - easy to annotate and create setlists and layouts.

Software: if you already have even the smaller iPads - check out ForScore - outstanding software and has everything you need, but most importantly speed and reliability https://forscore.co/

Hi Ed,

Great question - I just reach up and tap the screen. The softwere has a 'performance mode' which disables most gestures meaning a general tap in the right direction executes the page turn.

I did try an external bluetooth controller (essentially a foot piston), but I've found most (personal) success with the direct approach - in some ways its similar to dealing with physicial music, but without the risk of the pages flying off the music desk (worst night mare right!)

Here it is in action - from rehearsals for a concert a couple months back - preview video captured by the pastor! https://www.facebook.com/secondpresportsmouth/videos/2380837455522372/

The action is certainly fast enough. The only problem I've had is going backward several pages if asked to do that randomly during a hymn sing.

The latest iPad Pro can read facial gestures as another way of turning pages; I’m just starting to get used to it.

I am still very much in love with my MIDI console from Content - I did have a pedal reed switch fail, and Dewy Kuhn, Verdin came right out and replaced it, under warranty - great service!

For those who might be interested, I did make a video explaining how I have set up my limited but very functional pistons and added an X-keys strip to help with registration.

The new sequencer features in HW VI really make the magic happen :)
