The walnut Winchester

PostFri Oct 08, 2021 3:05 am

Someone else (thanks Paul) has done it for me!

http://www.organworks.co.uk/news/walnut-winchester/

Walnut naturals and oak sharps. As I was deciding what to spec I remembered that as a teenager I hankered after something with dark naturals.

Definitely the premium option, but it's lovely. My previous home console (which I need to get shot of) and the church organ (1890s, installed in the 1960s) feel as if they're in charge. Not this one.

And it's lovely to have pistons. I realised that the last time I regularly played an instrument with pistons (and the only time I have regularly played an instrument with 3 manuals) was preparing for my Grade 8 in the 1980s.

Admire your choice for keyboards. (Think you meant 1980's for Grade 8 tho)

I discovered last weekend that an old friend from university days is now the organist on that instrument. Neither he nor I regularly played during our college days - we were both singers.

That is a handsome console. I hope you enjoy playing it.
