When I try to right-click on the keyboard in Hauptwerk, say the Great, and then play the lowest and highest notes on said keyboard, I get nothing back to my laptop.
A few things.
1- I guess that you are using a MIDI to USB cable. Depending on the model/brand and your version of Windows you may need to install a driver.
2- Also, some some of those cable are "weirdly labelled". Many are labelled "IN" (meaning that the OUT of the organ connects to this "IN" of the cable, the "OUT" of the cable connects into the "IN" of the organ. Also, to avoid a MIDI loop, try to connect for now your cable "IN" only to the console MIDI OUT. Then continue to step 3 & 4. If after 4 it still doesn't work, disconnect your MIDI cable IN, and try to connect the OUT to your console OUT.
3- Make sure that MIDI to GT is ON/Set on your console.
4- In Hauptwerk go to
General settings | Midi Ports and in the MIDI IN tab you should see at least 2 columns, one labelled
Hauptwerk VSTLink and another one (name will vary but it should be your MIDI to USB cable). If you don't see that, then Windows and Hauptwerk don't "see" your MIDI cable (in that case, check the manufacturer' website to find the driver needed and insall it). If you have a second entry, it will quite possibly be your MIDI cable. Then make sure that the box at the intersection of CONSOLE MIDI IN 1 line and your MIDI cable column is ticked. Then click ok and try to auto-detect.
Good luck
